If you're worried about Dyna, please compare the available housing between the two DCs. Ya'll have been open for over a year now, Dyna has not. Let's worry about us when it's actually appropriate in 8-9 months.Oh great another Materia is doomed post.
As someone that plays on Materia it is very active. You just need to know where to look or work with others to achieve things.
We have developed a friendly, helpful and supportive community.
As someone that has alts on another DCs I'd be more concerned for Dynamis than Materia.
The thing to kind of remember is that regardless of what DC it is or how many servers are opened is that cross-DC enables people to go somewhere else to get a faster queue. It doesn't matter if they should be staying to help population, if there's a fasted way to get a queue, people will go for it. That's really Dynamis' only flaw is that people are too adjusted to their original worlds to give up the faster queues for the sake of helping to pop their new one.
Materia does not have cross-DC or any way to access faster queues so if ya'll are still having issues a year down the line, that speaks volumes of how many people are actually active there and wanting to participate in content.

You say that as I checked a month or so ago, that one person was still alone in their mist plot 5, and had been for over 6 months, FC ward.Oh great another Materia is doomed post.

Dont compare Dyna and Materia, just dont, one has been open for much longer, while the other is steadily increasing in population, slowly but surely, while the other is basically on life support

The two data centres have opposite problems and cannot be compared. If you're worried about Dyna, please compare the available housing between the two DCs. Ya'll have been open for over a year now, Dyna has not. Let's worry about us when it's actually appropriate in 8-9 months.

Materia's housing situation is going to reflect the low population, but Dynamis can have a full housing ward and still have low population because everyone immediately ditches it to go to a more active DC. With that system permanently available, there is no motivation to ever start queuing there instead, because at any given time the majority of people will still be elsewhere.
Materia at least guarantees that everyone who "lives" on that DC will be queuing on that DC.
Also, Materia's queue problems seem to be at least half to do with people turning to PF instead. Especially the people trying to gather a party of 15 so they can run Labyrinth unsynched, while I can get through the place quicker by signing up for alliance roulette.

Gratz when I was playing on Materia from NA I had 400/4000 ping regularly. It is why I left. What are you smoking? I play on OCE just fine from NA.I lag very rarely. I can do Euphro just fine. My character is done EW. Its people like you spreading false lies that people wont even give a try. No wonder why the server is struggling. Weirdos fearmongering about high lag if not OCE then complaining its dead
Strange I leveled from 1-70 on Dynamis and only had ONE thing (crystal tower) that I actually needed to go off DC to get done. Everything else no problem with duty finder at all. Even now I regularly run roulettes and don't have much of a wait (I dont consider 10-15 minutes a long wait)The two data centres have opposite problems and cannot be compared.

So? That's my experience on Materia as well. There is no actual issue with queuing for roulettes, so long as you have a bit of patience, unless it's fairly late at night. I think the high-level dungeons might take a while to pop, but levelling to 70 doesn't sound like much of a boast.Strange I leveled from 1-70 on Dynamis and only had ONE thing (crystal tower) that I actually needed to go off DC to get done. I think that's the problem that most the players screaming "dead data center" have, whether it's Materia or Dynamis. They're thinking only in terms of end game content queues when a large percentage of the population hasn't had enough time to reach end game. So? That's my experience on Materia as well. Any sort of MSQ leveling content (outside of Crystal Tower) doesn't have problems when it comes to queues except during the region very late night/very early morning hours and even the congested NA data centers can have queue problems at that time. The queue times aren't going to be as quick as the congested data centers but they also aren't excessively long.
The queues that suffer the most from the lower population: Alliance raids (since it needs to match 24 players with the necessary roles), PvP and level 90 content. I know Dynamis has a few Discords dedicated to organizing player events for those queue types and I would assume Materia has a few as well.
As more and more players are completing 6.0 MSQ, the level 90 queue times are gradually improving (not everyone goes to other data centers regardless of what some say).
Alliance raid and PvP queue times still suffer though. Few players are making detours into side content as they focus on completing MSQ so they don't have the content unlocked or aren't choosing to do it. Eventually those will start getting more active as players get caught up on MSQ and have interest in doing the side content that was ignored while leveling.

I am here since the beta version and the launch of 2.0
The "problem" with queues is the DC population, yes, but before, back in the days, we used to wait longer times (like 25 to 40 minutes) for a regular ARR dungeon as a dps and it was "ok" (well, not ok, but common) in any server.
When I see people complaining about Dynamis's queues taking around 15 to 20 minutes I can just smile.
The new DC will be filled up with people after 7.0 launches and when 8.0 comes to life as well. All currently DCs took the same grow pacing as we see in Dyna. Dyna is just a few steps younger(and I hope Materia is too).
if we see fewer minutes taken for queues through some months, then we can relax. Soon the place will be almost like any older DC. We just have to wait and do our part helping the community there to grow stronger, healthy and kicking![]()
