Has the Materia Datacenter just been abandoned by SE?

I had a character in Materia, the lag was too much to play comfortably so I abandoned the server, it's been over a year now and those worlds continue to be "new" which means no one is playing there.


I have a solution, dismantle Materia and reallocate the resources in other Data Centers that need it, unless SE believes they will get enough players eventually.

This is the best solution, there is no saving grace for Materia, it aint growing, almost everyone left when the 90 days cooldown ended, and people have just left more and more over time, there's barely any new players and a big percentage of the population is literally bots.

Dismantle it once and for all and send people with free transfers to Dynamis or to JP smallest worlds if there are any.

Do not connect OCE to NA, I don't want to have 500 ping to the server or have to do PF and and DF with people who have 500 ping regularly. The game breaks at high latency.

What are you smoking? I play on OCE just fine from NA.I lag very rarely. I can do Euphro just fine. My character is done EW. Its people like you spreading false lies that people wont even give a try. No wonder why the server is struggling. Weirdos fearmongering about high lag if not OCE then complaining its dead

I also had a character on Materia and double weaving was impossible with the latency from NA without clipping gcds constantly. Trying to join servers on the opposite sides of the world will not work.

I love coming to the forums and reading "we should delete the DC you enjoy playing on" from randoms. Makes me feel great inside.

The small population has been a huge eye opener for me. I never played MMOs before XIV, so my experience with community building was very stunted. On Materia, I recognise people in duty finder and party finder. I have neighbours in my housing ward that I see everywhere, not just the one retainer bell meeting every other week with a single /wave. I can participate in community events hosted by discord groups and streamers because the timezones match my own. I feel like I make a difference when I jump into PFs to help people out, whether it's MSQ progression or Savage.

If you feel like you have nothing to do when you log into Materia because "tHe QuEuEs ArE lOnG" a) the amount of stuff you actually do in the game is very minimal and b) you haven't formed any connections to the people of the DC, and posting how SE should intervene shows that plain as day.

....as the only time you can get stuff done is in a tiny 2 hr window, any other time, forget it.

This is literally every server, US has that issue as well, the truth is you just can't stop them, you ban one and 5 take their place, they work like clones, "there are 200,000 units with a million more well on the way." and all that.

I feel like it'd be pretty easy to just hire a person or two who checks for people blatantly flying under the map and whatnot.

I agree with this. Materia is a lovely DC. Everybody I've spoken to here loves it.

As someone that plays on Materia it is very active. You just need to know where to look or work with others to achieve things.
We have developed a friendly, helpful and supportive community.

As someone that has alts on another DCs I'd be more concerned for Dynamis than Materia.

No it applies to everything, which is why i shifted back to Kujata.
