Has the Materia Datacenter just been abandoned by SE?

It's been a year since it's launch but there's been nothing mentioned on it,
Every OCE world is plagued by hackers. (Go to any OCE world and do a playersearch for lvl 1-5 in Limsa.)
Reports don't seem to ever get responses.
The entire DC seems to be doomed.

This is literally every server, US has that issue as well, the truth is you just can't stop them, you ban one and 5 take their place, they work like clones, "there are 200,000 units with a million more well on the way." and all that.

I feel like it'd be pretty easy to just hire a person or two who checks for people blatantly flying under the map and whatnot.

The Materia data center has been abandoned by SE, the players, and God Himself.

Everyone I talk to that's from Materia has said they will never go back, and everyone that I've talked to that is currently there has said that they're in the process of transferring.

The people that pushed the hardest for the OCE server were the JP players.

They wanted English players to leave.

I think it was a combination of a couple factors that killed Materia.

1) I don't think there were as many players who would need an OCE DC as people claimed there were.
2) People didn't want to abandon their home world/DC to travel there.
3) All of the worlds in Materia were brand new worlds with no existing players. (Not that I'd want any worlds to get moved there, but it would have helped)

I don't think it was necessarily 'abandoned' by SE but each of the major problems don't really have a solution that SE can use to fix it unless they want to transfer entire worlds over there. (And considering that they didn't when they made Dynamis, I think they've realized that they should be avoiding that 'solution', and thank goodness they have been) I feel like Materia should have just never have been introduced, but it's too late to simply delete it now.
