No they aren't. The wards that are owned by shell FCs didn't even exist in 2018.

Grandfathering ONLY applies to private purchases prior to the rule changes in 4.2. Free Companies are not grandfathered. The rules changes stopped people from buying more than one private house per server and is working as intended.

FC abuse is another issue which SE seems to be incapable of fixing.

Wich honestly.. is pretty strange they can't fix that issue.

And why would they open so many more wards to FC and privates...? since sadly a lot of people abuse FC's as a personal for the workshop, etc.

Well they did before they realized it hurt legit FCs more then those with multiple Houses and changed it back immediately.

Shall I remember you about the 50/50 Split of Ishgard? The outcries especially on NA and stupid ideas like "I ranked on Ishgard Restoration I deserve a free house". Now they reserved only 1 new ward to FC only and people are still not satisfied even if its hybrid wards (I mean Square could have released it also as 3 FC / 3 Personal Wards). No wonder Yoshi reacts like he did after somebody asked him about Moon/Sharlayan Housing. People cant be pleased anyway.

Its not only the demand. What do you think is gonna happen when Bolmungs demand on private houses would be met someday? Buhuuuu didnt get a Large, buhuuu didnt get my Beachfront, buhuuuuu didnt get a Plot in Shirogane and so one. The overcrowded servers wont be pleased until Square is giving them all instanced LB41s or M35s or whatever their heart desires.

Because the current system isn’t even letting everyone participate (and by that I mean actually owning a house, not just throwing bids at a lotto every 9 days), let alone giving people what they want. An instanced system can do that. A lot of people can’t get a house at all right now. And for others, it’s a reasonable expectation to be able to upgrade when they’ve earned the gil to do so. But just throwing more wards at the problem isn’t going to solve that problem either. Keep the wards for those that can luck into them. Make instanced for everyone else.

Correct. It's why i say that instanced Housing is possibly the way to go.

Instanced housing is great for those who want it. They would still need to support the people who don't want instanced housing. Every other game with housing has instanced housing and there's a reason we are not playing them.

Of course. I’m not advocating taking anything away from anyone, just adding on. In the long run, it’s easier to have an instanced option added than add more wards that have to be permanently loaded.

As far as those other games, I’m not playing them because they’re not Final Fantasy. I have no idea what their housing systems are like beyond what others have told me, and the ideas they’ve put forth about things that could work within the current framework. I’ve said elsewhere what I’m looking for out of instanced housing is pretty much the same exact thing as the ward housing, only made into private plot instances. And I really hope someone at SE is working on it in a quiet secret corner somewhere… lol
