I made it to Maduin and had your name come up in player search finally a couple of minutes ago just to send you a tell and have you either log off or go into an instanced duty so i got "[17:02]Message to Peter RedhillMaduin could not be sent."

I'll chill here a little bit in case you're in an instance and keep trying (my character is Serene Style)! I'm glad the Teamcraft Discord has been a help for you!

Oh, sorry I missed you. I kinda crashed and burned last night. I've been doing loops getting stuff for white scrips. I might take a break doing it until Tuesday. But I'll be on all day tomorrow for the most part. I'm normally off on Sundays. I think where I am at now I need to gather all the items and need and get the necessary food and potions to craft. A lot of the stuff I can't gather yet because of folk lore and buying it is so much money. I might as well buy the gear, but I wanted to do that myself so if it's going to take longer then so be it.

I probably won't be on until late your time but I'll try to head over to look for you just in case I get lucky. Otherwise I'll try again on Tuesday.

I honestly think I need to stop. I'm trying to learn things you guys already know and for whatever reason won't tell or put into guides. Everyone has been really helpful I'm not saying that. It's just this system is so needlessly convaluted. I just want to be able to craft better gear for myself. I just want to be able to craft everything in my log. But I need to overmeld and use food and droughts and all these stat buffs like I'm trying to endgame raid. Maybe this isn't for me. I've spent the better part of a month trying to figure out the ins and outs and for what? I still feel as lost as I did at the beginning of it. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I know I'm not enjoying it.

Well to crafters making endgame gear and master recipes is our endgame lol The thing you're doing wrong is trying to run before you can walk. Take a breath learn to hq low recipes and build yourself up to the bigger ones whilst learning what the skills do.

I think the tipping point I'm currently at was finding out that having more stats for a macro is bad. Which is something everyone else knows, but somehow I missed. I was using a guide, but my stats got too good. Apparently, I didn't know that was a thing.

I've just been having a hell of a time. I need an actual crafting mentor to help me, but I don't want to inconvenience anyone else. My special needs education is rearing its ugly head. Everyone else is learning it and moving on, and I'm as per usual lagging.

I've just invested so much time into this, and I feel like I've learned nothing. That nothing has really changed, and I hate it. Even when trying to help me, everyone just oozes snark. Like, god forbid, we have to help the simpleton.

Look, I'm rambling, but I'm trying to understand this over complicated for no reason system. I've learned, and yet still, I find things that someone at level 20 already knew. I'm technically a crafting mentor because the qualifications are so laughably easy to get. I could put the crown on if I wanted to and parade around like I didn't just get defeated by a crafting macro. Or that when I tried to reach out for help, I was treated like an idiot.

I'm just sick of it. I'm sick being told I'll understand it, and then I don't. I'm sick of crafting and crafting and upgrading, and still, I can't make anything. I'm sick of it. I want to be better, but I'm apparently just too stupid. So I'm going back to just playing the game and ignoring endgame crafting. I was happier then.

Sorry for the blog, but I'm tired of tackling this alone.

How can one be having too much stats for a macro?
If you're talking about pre-mature completion due to having too much craftsmanship, then all you need to do is just to add in a line of:
    /ac "Final Appraisal" <wait.2>

If someone tells you that "having more stats for a macro is bad", he or she is probably not someone you should learn from... It's just wrong on so many levels...

Apart from the fact that Final Appraisal could resolve your problem easily, the other matter is that crafting is not just about stats.
Crafting is about planning a rotation (you need to understand the 'tool kit' of yours to create your own rotations and macros... be creative and innovative about it),
and executing the rotation while catering the favorable conditions that come at you occasionally.

You said you were using a guide... I hope it's not a guide that was just feeding you with macros... cos that's kind of meaningless...

I think Ch9, Ch10 and Ch11 of my guide will be of great help to you:
    http://ffxivrealm.com/guides/ff14-ad...ie-tsukino.39/

Ch9 is about how to make use of crafting conditions
Ch10 is about how to generate a rotation, and some examples were given to you
Ch11 is about some common mistakes that people make

I have a feeling that you might have been learning crafting in a wrong way...
Instead of overwhelming yourself with overmelds, trying to craft a high-end item, you should have been having fun on utilizing a new action every time you learn a new action... That way, your pool of knowledge in the actions will gradually build up, and eventually be proficient in constructing your own combos and rotations.

When I was leveling my crafters 8 years ago, every time I learned a new action, I was super thrilled, and I would try it out in every way possible to see how it can be used together with other actions... Back then, I didn't even have the power or gil to upgrade my gear, and sure I fail my crafts sometimes, but it was so much fun! Good old days!

I can understand the frustration. It can take someone explaining things in a way that makes sense to you for things to finally click.

I still plan on trying to catch you in game Tuesday if I can.

Defo getting bad advice, more stats equals shorter macros for one. You shouldn't rely on macros they are there for convenience not necessity.

Reading that reply, i was getting ready to either find you Caimie's guide or(if i was feeling lazy/tired) tell you that its the one you should read. I dabbled in crafting til i read her guide. She helped me understand parts i was overlooking and i even read ahead to learn about things i hadnt unlocked yet and challenges i wouldnt take on until much later. Cant recommend it enough. Ultimately if you decide youre happier not crafting, you should play the game how you want. But id at least give the guide a skim. Nothing to lose afterall.
