Yes and no. After I’ve carefully examined the gear, it seems like they placed the heart that is on Regula’s armour on the front and the heart that is on Gaius’s and the centurion’s gear on the back. They modified the gathering gear by paying homage to all the locked Garlean gear.

However, the ball that is on the back of Gaius’s armour is not on the gathering gear.

So any discrepancies could be explained with the same idea that they used for the Grand Chair. Which on the front has a chocobo motif and the Garlean coat of arms on the back. It being that way due to Eorzean crafters loving the design while wanting to give proper respect for those who originally designed the chair.
