Eureka Orthos is them finally acknowledging that loose end in the Crystal Tower raid where Nero got strange aetherical readings and was all excited about. And like others say before this was the original plan for Eureka because they wanted to base it off FFIII where it was a dungeon inside the tower that housed powerful weapons and magic. The Eureka in Stormblood was just variation of that idea.

Learn your series history before you continue to make more dumb pointless threads like this Skiros (and Aveyond as well for that matter). Dismissed.

Criterion is 4 people content that's hard. That alone is praiseworthy. It also has in-between enemies that hit harder than all actual bosses in ARR combined and don't deserve to be called trash for that reason. The design philosophy between the dungeons we had for the last 10 years and Criterion is like night and day. The rewards could be better, though. But that's more an icing of the cake kinda thing. Hard disagree on your take.

More like something going on with people to be blind to the fact that they've been investing plenty into the game.

They also said back in ShB they were completely done with the Crystal Tower. Boy, that sure didn't last long.

Because when they said that, fans of FF the Eureka is from and people who were wanting follow up on that thred cried in unison and their voices were heard. Or they meant no plans in some other way, although it couldn't have been narrative, considering Endwalker.

I think it's that they are investing the money into different places in the game that may or may not be popular, ie Island Sanctuaries and Criterion Dungeons. I think my bigger issue is that everything feels so safe without any real risks being taken in the EW content. I hope with the release of FF16 and the focus being put back onto FF14 we might see some more creativity again.

Man I grew up in NC and lived there until 2019 and I don't remember hearing about this guy. I didn't live all that far from Winston-Salem either. Considering my mom was all over stuff like this, I'm surprised I don't remember it lol

I think our priorities just differ in this case. Yes, Criterion bosses are hard but, as I said, they're basically just 3 extreme bosses stapled together.

What I wanted from Criterion was an actually difficult dungeon experience. If I'm just looking for a difficult boss fight I can already do savage for those and we were never really lacking in good boss fights in the first place.
What this game is severely lacking in is any engaging PvE experience that isn't just 1 enemy in a square/circle arena.

Which funnily enough is why I enjoy Deep Dungeons, at least on the higher floors, because it shakes up the usual formula of spamming AoE on braindead trash mobs for a while and then fighting 1 "difficult" thing in a big arena.

I can get behind that idea. I'm just happy we got four people content that isn't PotD (where only the last couple of floors are difficult). We should have way more of that, I agree. Bring back interesting dungeons like *gasp* Aurum Vale (which isn't even that interesting, honestly but you get the idea).

Criterion does have a dungeon part though before and after the first boss. It's not much but you have to pay attention to patrols and manage very hard hitting mobs in a specific order, and it's arguably the most difficult part in the savage version. (I never completed Criterion Savage though so I could be wrong about that last part)

The second trash in particular shows interesting potential that they could explore in future instances of Criterion, so I wouldn't write off the entire content as just 3 bosses stringed together.
