I appreciate Square Enix wanting to give a gesture of good will to players that might be impacted but if they really want players to not lose things, actually build a housing system that guarantees everyone a house.

I also think it's fair that active players, potentially those that have spent months trying to get a house or move up to a larger plot (of which there are less), might be annoyed by this. The one mechanic that's designed to keep housing plots available if players go inactive, regardless of why, probably shouldn't be disabled as much as it has been historically.
