Turning demo off in situations like this is just SE taking responsibility for the awful system they created. It's not the player's fault that these incidents happen. The problem is that the underlying housing system is dogshit and auto demolition was a necessary evil to keep players active or reclaim their plot so someone else could use it. Circumstances aside, constantly disabling that system defeats the purpose of it. It spent a year disabled due to the war in Ukraine and is now disabled again after a month. I appreciate Square Enix wanting to give a gesture of good will to players that might be impacted but if they really want players to not lose things, actually build a housing system that guarantees everyone a house.
I also think it's fair that active players, potentially those that have spent months trying to get a house or move up to a larger plot (of which there are less), might be annoyed by this. The one mechanic that's designed to keep housing plots available if players go inactive, regardless of why, probably shouldn't be disabled as much as it has been historically.
Also, before anyone claims salt, I have a personal housing plot. Lich, Ward 26, Plot 12.

I suspect that current home owners would find it quite punishing if a shift to instanced housing resulted in their current furniture setup being disassembled, as currently happens when you move from one house to another even if the layout is the same.
If it is only for Chaos and Light thats fine because they are most likely affected by the earthquake. No need to suspend demolition for everywhere else.

I agree. Having it turned off for the past year was a bit long, however the recent earthquake has caused 20000 deaths and unimaginable suffering so it is absolutely the right choice to turn off auto demo temporarily. Most EU worlds also went multiple cycles with 0 bid personals so it's not like we need more.

They need to abolish the demolitions completely and FIX housing supply once and for all. Stop punishing those who bought a house and start maning up to the needs of your game instead SE. You are 8 years too late already.
Those affected by the earthquake, I cannot even imagine the grief and sorrow they are going through. Incredibly sad.![]()
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
but screw their in-game houses though right? You dont seem to be that sad over it.They need to abolish the demolitions completely and FIX housing supply once and for all. Why did the evil Venar demolish No Shadow God land. Is why there is the house shortage.
