Okay, so now what about all the other players using whatever unsupported unlicensed unofficial mods that are unchecked by square enix? How is me not using mods going to prevent them from using malicious mods to steal my personal information? You think you want the wild west, but you really don't.
Fact is, the game is unsafe to anyone who cares about following the ToS. It's an open sandbox for modders and rulebreakers. If you don't fit in with that definition, it's best to avoid this game like the plague.

Easy its all client side. Now if SE got hacked through a mod/plug-in you have every right to be worried. But since all parsers and graphical mods are all client side(local) as long as you don't download the mods or log into your account on an infected computer you're right as rain.
Sounds convenient but there's nothing to prevent a client-side mod from displaying information that is hidden on the client otherwise. If the company can't even prevent this stuff despite it being against the ToS, why should I trust their security countermeasures at all? The game has a huge problem and it seems like square enix just threw their hands up in the air. Don't ask don't tell, don't play.Easy its all client side. @Poporito I sound "paranoid" because I don't feel comfortable playing a video game that has no security measures and an extremely active toxic mod community. Interesting. There are better things to do with my life than risk security on a video game. You people mod fantasia instead of buying it, you mod cosmetics instead of buying them. You have interest in these things, but no interest in paying for them. This is tons of lost money. If not for mods, you would have to pay for your interests, like everyone else who doesn't break the rules.
I think that they should delete anyone's account who has used fantasia mods. You stole from square enix.

1.) Third-party tools and mods used by players cannot receive any kind of data from other players, save what the client makes available naturally. You are at no point at risk of any sort of compromise in this regard. Even ACT can't pull the kind of data you seem to be thinking of.
2.) The hell is a Fantasia mod? You can't force the game to give you items. There are third-party tools for temporarily adjusting your character's appearance, but that's entirely client-side - no one else is able to see it.
3.) A not insignificant portion of the player-base is only still here because of their access to third-party tools and ability to mod the game. Bereft of that, there would definitely be an exodus. Would it be a majority? No, but it would be enough for SE to notice the dip in sales fairly readily.
4.) Most of the people that do choose to use vanity mods tend to be of the demographics most likely to make a lot of purchases from the Mogstation, including Fantasias. Especially Fantasias.

PSA: Plugins and mods aren't the same thing. If you're going to call a community toxic, at least insult the correct one. The toxicity stems from the plugin community, the modding side minds their own business unless someone does something dumb like plaster it on a billboard.Sounds convenient but there's nothing to prevent a client-side mod from displaying information that is hidden on the client otherwise. Side note, modders do pay for fantasia and in game cosmetics. There's isn't a plugin available that permanently changes the appearance of your character (it changes on teleport/instance swap) and you still need the base items to even have certain mods display at all. You should probably know what you're talking about if you plan to go on a crusade against them. The modding (and by association the roleplay) community carries the fantasia sales on their backs.

Liana you're wasting your time with him. He's so stuck in his delusions, assumptions, and ignorance that he's resorted to strawman arguments, ad hominem attacks, and outright open hostility in the other dumpster fire thread.PSA: Plugins and mods aren't the same thing. How is it a delusion if it is happening? People can mod their appearance to be whatever they want clientside. If they don't care about what other people think, then it doesn't matter to them. Why would they ever buy a fantasia when they can just mod their appearance however they want?
Tangent but not entirely true. People tend to forget that little ERP mod harassment situation that Yoshi P had to come out against a couple of years ago AND a portion of the modding community is responsible for the datamining that exists (which is how we know about that godly new set that in coming out in the Moonfire faire 2023)
I mean, I have no idea what situation that was so can't comment on it. The ERP mod side is still going strong though.Tangent but not entirely true. I also don't really have an issue with dataminers outside of people using it for profit reasons, like said billboard situation. I'm not one to get stressed out over spoilers.
