Quick Lore question ShB and EW spoilers.

Hi guys, quick lore question about ShB and EW.

I thought that time passes faster in the Source compared to the First. Wasn’t it 1 hour in Source equals to many years in the First? How come now, in EW, when we return to the First, it’s like nothing happened? Shouldn’t years go by already?

Did the time flux get fixed somehow and we are back to 1-1 ratio? If so, what caused the time flux to begin with?

All of the shards move at different speeds from each other at rates that can speed up or slow down and isn't constant. It's not that the First always moves faster than the Source, it just happened to be faster for a period of time. It took a couple of patches for all the Scions to move over so it probably wasn't a few hours equals years.

The writers said that the events of ShB take place during a period of time when the time difference between the two slowed down to 1:1 in order to make it easier on the narrative.

As for why according to the lore, it's something along the lines of time not transferring between the shards in the void so it's always in flux.

As for why according to the writers, they wanted us to go the Source after they recovered a bit from the Flood and thought it would be more interesting that way.

The relative speed of time fluctuates, and we are told early in Shadowbringers that it is currently near-even.

Thank you both. It’s clear. I completely forgot that they really mentioned this in game? Anyway I guess we assume now it’s roughly equal at this moment in time during EW missions.

The Exarch mentions it near the beginning of ShB right after you are getting accustomed to the Crystarium with your arrival there.
