Armoury chest – could offhand slots be redistributed?

From the scrapping of the belt category, we know that it is possible to take armoury chest slots from one category and tack them onto a different category.

It seems to me that the offhand tool category would be excellent target for reassigning a fair amount of its space to other categories.

At its tightest (and assuming it would stay in rows of 5), you could probably get by with only 15 blocks in the offhand slot, and distribute the other 20 plus the 5 kept in reserve from the belts to give each of the left-side categories an extra row.

If 15 is too tight... I'm not sure what the alternative would be. But you don't tend to amass offhand items in the same way as other categories, since tools don't drop from dungeons and there's no point to keeping old ones after you replace them. Any amount of fiddliness it would add to managing your offhand slots would probably be well made up by less fiddling with the other categories.

PLD can actually amass a large number of shields to go with different glamours. Crafters who level up their DoH classes all at the same time would also quickly hit the 15 limit as they work to upgrade their gear. Gatherers have the same issue plus the need to hold extra for their retainers if they're using DoL retainers.

Granted the need tends to be temporary but it does occur. That would mean needing at least 25 slots for offhand at times.

I don't think there is a good solution. Some players are making use of those slots because they use classes/jobs with offhands. Others don't.

You don't need armoury slots to use glamours, though. They can go in your inventory or, even better, the glamour dresser. Who holds on to every glamour item to use them manually?

I do tend to hang onto shields rather than put them in the dresser, but that's because I might as well be making use of those otherwise wasted slots that sit empty because I will never have 35 offhand pieces at a time. (I don't need slots because I keep shields; I keep shields because I have too many shield slots.)

Take away that excessive amount of inventory space for them, and I'll be putting them in storage sooner.

I agree that the dresser is the way to go but a lot of players are already out of space in their glamour dresser even with the increase to 800 this expansion.

Would be better if rings were combined into a single ring in all honesty. Most rings are so small that they're almost unnoticeable as glamour. Having a toggle to have a ring displayed left, right or both hands shouldn't be difficult considering we already have a visor toggle.

All gathering and crafting offhands = 12 so 15 fails. 25 should be more than enough.
