I use the radiant fending top on my paladin and that has tail armour, which was certainly nice to see. As a result, I dont think I'll be changing it anytime soon unless something else also takes the tail into account. But I agree with OP

lol
Looks like all of my old image links are broken now in this thread. That's fun.

The conversation you had with someone in chat, reminds me of how some players either feel too tired to give a full explanation of how they feel on their opinions so they resort to lazy jokes, and comebacks/passive aggression. [it's like they forget as a consumer, we have a reason to dictate what we want, within reasons which tbh, are not over stepped in many situations that get push back. Think what Many will on Gender/Race/Glamour/PVP/Shop/Etc.]
it always felt weird when it broke off oddly through the armor and gear.
I'd almost want them to make the clothing ride higher on the bottom, or lower to just bypass the tail area to give an easier hole, or just be under the tail.[while the whole added slot/hole cover in some ARR clothing is nice. you can see how it changes in some.., Images on the net, specially if the body isn't vanilla with how the tail works as well.]
So for Actual clothing, simply Riding higher or lower would be an improvement.
For Capes, a split/a wide gap around where the tail should pass/or Simply put Variable Fabric Capes<Solid near the top, and going transparent nearer to the bottom, with a split near the tailzone/transparent could add a new style to it visually>. [For the huge gap near the tail, it would make physical sense that the cape could move in the wind whilst not being explicitly clipping through the tail. and the gap can be shapped in ways that fit the design, or detail of the Glamour/armor]
Toggles are a thing some have mentioned in threads and asked for. as some games have toggles for hoods<looks at WHM with hood in recent ad>, or opening/closing Cloaks/Jackets/Trenchcoats/etc. in the front.<makes sense I'd the outfit has clearly designed Clothes underneath> might even make it so certain effects of Glow of certain gear could disappear/turn off. Thus the who Cape Delete/Edit could work if they implement.
TLDR: with the unknown changes coming in 7.0 Graphics. we cant really through out past changes as set In stone.
SPECIALLY IF THEY PLAN 10 MORE YEARS.
It's weird seeing some sets where they clearly took the time and effort to accommodate tails and then they just gave up. I'll say the same thing I said about Hrothgar and Viera hair and ears, if you're going to create something ask yourself "is this something I'm willing to put 100% of my effort into every time we create something new for this race to wear?" if the answer is no then don't even bother trying because you're just setting yourself up for failure every single time.
This also doesn't apply just to tailed cosmetics, SE has a very terrible habit of creating new things almost every patch and then just forgetting about it or giving up on it.
The one thing I don't miss on my main is my tail clipping through capes and stuff. Was a friggin eyesore! Worsw than any hair clipping problems we used to have.
Au Ra and Miqote races are highly overrated races anyway. Fantasia into something else pleaseI think they look horrific. Completely ruins sets, and I don't want to fantasia off of a tailed race either, before someone brings that up. I seriously doubt they would do something about it, it'd be great, but I don't think so. They just need to do less capes, for starters.
