Interior Housing Upgrade

I've been saying for years that they should do this with apartments. They're already instanced even!
Buy an apartment. Make is guild bedroom size by default.
Upgrade to small.
Upgrade to medium.
Upgrade to large. Once it's large, give them an outdoor balcony area to put a few outdoor furnishings on.

At this point I'm willing to bet the vast majority of players would happily sacrifice having a front lawn if it meant having whatever interior building space they want. The fact that we have the Island Sanctuary tells me they can do instances on much larger scales for individuals, they simply choose not to do so with housing because that would admit they didn't think things through properly. Personal housing should have ALWAYS been instanced and expandable with the neighborhood part limited to FC's so that the neighborhoods themselves would have some life in them and wouldn't be ghost towns 95% of the time. Yoshida even said back in ARR right on these very forums that they were going to make individual player housing something separate and more affordable. I don't see it unless he was talking about the miserably small studio apartments with only 100 furnishing limit that you can only have one of (Two if you're in a free company! Hooray!)
Actual solutions need to be implemented. Not a band-aid lottery that just delays the time until people are mad by 4 additional days compared to spamming placards which was basically just the lottery system but with more sleep deprivation and not actually playing the game.

Absolutely this, but no need to tie the outside balcony/terrace to the size, make it modular.

Basic Apartment: 500,000 Gil
Upgrade to Medium Apartment: 750,000 Gil (same size as a small house)
Upgrade to Large Apartment: 1,000,000 Gil (from Medium, or 1,750,000 from Basic) (same size as a medium house, maybe a different layout though on two floors instead of three)
Add Terrace Access: 500,000 Gil (probably about 2/3rd the size of a small house garden plot but same item limit)
Upgrade to large Terrace: 750,000 Gil (maybe the size of a medium house garden plot, same item limit)

This way players get to pick and choose what they want. Just want the outside space? Basic Apartment with Large Terrace for 1,750,000 Gil in total, still cheaper than a house.

I would then increase the prices of regular Medium and Large houses, to price more players out and promote the apartment system, and make Large houses FC only.

I'd like it to be way more expensive, this game needs gil sinks. A upgrade for a medium starting at 10m would be nice for me.

There's no way Apartments should be more expensive than houses, especially if they're supposed to be the more accessible option. And a 'medium apartment' would be the size of a 'small house'. So it should be less than 3mil.
