There’s a scythe on the mog station also.

The more I try to find good glamours for my RDM, the more I end up being drawn to aiming gear instead. It's an endless cycle and I can't break out.
Glamour without restrictions* is long overdue!

DRG and DRK both have other weapons in the game with a blunt appearance. I'm not sure of the names, but they exist. All the tanks have a knobbed / spiky blunt weapon. Here's one DRK blunt (apology accepted)
For BLM it's more of a staff than an actual hammer, so there's really nothing wrong with that. The same goes for WHM.
Reaper seems a little odd, but if it fits the animations, then I don't see a problem there either.
I doubt there's a single DRG weapon without at least one sharp end. You know, for all the poking they do. DRK have also always used swords, having one or two clubs doesn't change what they were designed around - big sword.DRG and DRK both have other weapons in the game with a blunt appearance. No it's not and calling it a staff is an insane stretch. Do you consider a WAR axe also a staff, just because it has a long handle ?
It doesn't fit them. All of Reaper's animations have clearly been made with a sharp, slicing weapon in mind. Unless you can slash things with a hammer ?

Well, monster hunter has shown us the need to sharpen hammers lolI doubt there's a single DRG weapon without at least one sharp end. You know, for all the poking they do. DRK have also always used swords, having one or two clubs doesn't change what they were designed around - big sword.

On a more serious note you are trying to argue with someone addicted to playing devil's advocate. You cant have an honest discussion with someone intentionally being dishonest.
Idk what someone gets out of that but hey, to each their own.
There's also the biggest "fantasy-breaker" validated by the developers themselves and it is the joke contest weapons. A heck of an outlier if someone is even able to put them as one.
But the point with Gaia's example is: What is Squeenix's stance nowadays in this kind of direction, because although it is related to weapons, it also relates to the tired debacle about "mages can't wear plate because of job fantasy", that objectively holds zero strength today with what we can do already with the glamour system.
Correct. It doesn't change what they were designed around, but it doesn't mean they can't get creative once in a while. A blunt instrument wielded in the same fashion can still inflict damage. It's just going to be different.
You asked for a hammer example and I gave you a reasonably close response. The blunt pole is in there for DRG. I have no reason to make this up. I have little incentive to look it up, as you seem intent on dancing and dodging to try and not look foolish. I came here for proof of an axe that looks exactly like said hammer.
It's not a stretch at all. The stretch is trying to call this new hammer an axe.No it's not and calling it a staff is an insane stretch. Do you consider a WAR axe also a staff, just because it has a long handle ?
Because it doesn't slash, it doesn't fit? Interesting logic. Like I said, it fits the animation, they're just bonking things and it's a bit more realistic to wield that over a scythe. It doesn't fit them. All of Reaper's animations have clearly been made with a sharp, slicing weapon in mind. Unless you can slash things with a hammer ?
Edda's scythe did not work with DRG's animations, and neither does Gaia's hammer. There's very few slashes in its repertoire, relatively speaking, and neither of those weapon types are conducive to thrusting (hammers/maces might, depending on the design, but definitely not scythes). Which didn't seem to stop the devs, so it stands to reason things "making sense" isn't high priority for them, right...?
Spears and Blunt staves aren't used the same way. Even if they're a similar shapeCorrect. It doesn't change what they were designed around, but it doesn't mean they can't get creative once in a while. A blunt instrument wielded in the same fashion can still inflict damage. It's just going to be different.

They can also be creative as much as they want, just weird that they pretend to be super consistent. I've also never said there's an axe that looks like a hammer.
I've never called the hammer an axe.
It's funny that you're unable to cope with the fact that you're wrong, but my logic is correct![]()
