On a sidenote, I did enjoy having DNC as a subjob for MNK because, well, that was just a solo-king if you were in the mood to do stuff on your own!

I never played it myself, but isn't it kind of exactly the same as bard? at least the pirate thing with dices had its own mechanic

Nah, you are thinking about COR and BRD in XI - both of which had unique dynamics. No, DNC was a support DD that could help with MP and HP drain and also buff AGI and EVA. With that said, DNC, if geared correctly, could pump out some very nice damage, as well (this was true of any XI job, though.)
