Imperial Stronghold

Really loving this idea/content and can't wait to bust down the doors.

My biggest worry is this stronghold may end up in The Black Shroud.
I'd really like to see something totally different from the other 3 strongholds, that is not another "outdoors" like area, but rather a magitek fortress where there are corridors, barracks, and battle stations to infiltrate.

What comes to mind are places like Kefka's Tower, Shinra Building, and Alexander(Ifrit?) Airship in FFXII.

But if not in 1.22, I just hope we'll see something like this in the near future.

Imperials have a big foothold in Northern Thanalan already (and mor dhona) and they have the big cannons and some gates set up north of blue fog, I wouldn't be shocked to see it somewhere around there or just up in mor dhona.

I'm hoping for an underground bunker or something and not a stronghold that sits in the current layout of whatever zone it will be.
Make it have a maze of hallways, and since the Garleans have gun weapons, it'll feel like a FPS.

I'm up for parrying bullets with my axe.

the strongholds you see now are only temporary. They were built into existing zones with little thought. You can count on 2.0 having much better areas. oh, and they will prob be zoned, that's good or bad depending on how you look at it.

Betting it's where we get the Inferno Totem/Unmarked Keystone-type item for entrance to Garuda.

Since there has been much garlean activity up in coerthas (darkhold and aurum vale) which suggests they are preparing some sort of base there, I wouldn't be surprised if their base ends up being there.

SE have released concept art that suggests the Imperial Stronghold is located in a desert. 16/31 & 26/31 in the Ver. 2.0 Concept Art PDF.

If it ends up in Coerthas they need to open up Ishgard and start an airship ride there pronto.

And if this is a true Empire invasion, they should be setting up bases in all regions.


btw, are the Imperials Midlanders or are Garleans their own race?
