The jewel of Golbez's possession that Rubicante spoke of could have been just metaphor for a personal philosophy or goal, but it felt too deliberate. I thought it was obvious set up for Golbez having a Crystal of Light from Hydaelyn same as Ardbert and Co and a similar 'Failed WoL' mirror foil, but it could easily be a Dark Crystal like we haven't seen since ARR or a shard of Sabik that he picked up on the Moon. Or perhaps he was the original patsy of Igheyorm, and it's just that variety of auracite.

Just something to keep in mind since there is names some of you all probably don't recognize. Sometimes certain deities in the stories were listed as Titans and other times not depending what the city-state worshipped and weaved into their stories, but, this isn't a history class obviously of the real world, but to provide names on what you think might fit the Ascians and Ancients.

I would argue that Venat is Aphrodite as in at least the Japanese version they call her Venus which is the Roman God they slapped Aphrodite onto when they adopted the Greek Pantheon.

Venat is not Aphrodite for several reason but mostly Venat is her actual name and not station like the Convocation, she was the previous Azem. Also, her name in JP is Venas while generally Venus is spelled as Wenusu (I re-checked and it's actually Biinesu, which is even more different) in JP, this is a common misnomer because the names sounds kinda similar but that's not the intention.

ヴェーネス is a character from Final Fantasy XII who was seen (by their group of origin and previous allies) as causing history to deviate from "the right course" in favor of putting the reins of history in the hands of man. I'd be surprised if the reference was deeper than that, but once in a blue moon, "thing reminds me of other thing so the connection is intended" ends up working out.
