It might not even be the pitch but just the tone and the way he speaks. It's really nice. Emet and Aymeric have the best voices in the game. Also they have nice hair.

All this yapping about smiling in the face of certain doom and nobody brings up my boy Papalymo sacrificing his life to give the Alliance enough time to find something capable of dealing with Shinryu.

Doing him almost as dirty as SE did by killing him off so soon after he finally showed back up in HW.

The thing with him is that he was entirely built around being paired with Yada at the time. With her leaving, there really was no reason for him to exist, since he fullfed his role.

Also, because he's actually incredibly forgettable. We legit forgot he ever existed through the entirety of End Walker until we went back and watched old cutscenes again. Not to mention his death just kind of felt empty to us when it did happen.
