Made an alt just to play around with it, since the character creator really doesn't do a great job of showing actual in-game conditions. Not gonna lie, she's growing on me a bit. Does feel a little weird being huge, though.

While we are on this topic, why can't we use the aesthetician to alter our appearance such as our skin color, eye color, tail length etc.?
I had to use 2 separate Fantasias on my character, one to alter my skin colour and the other to change her eye colour.
This is totally unacceptable and the only restrictions Fantasia should be used to vary is race/sex and nothing more!
I'd even go as far and say that Fantasia should only change the race.
Simply it gets the cash shop money if you have to use a fantasia to change your character up a little while staying the same race and gender. Even WoW lets you completely re-edit your current race (even gender iirc) from the barber shop. The cash shop sells just the race change potion. While we are on this topic, why can't we use the aesthetician to alter our appearance such as our skin color, eye color, tail length etc.?

You have just described genetic traits. These are beyond the bounds of a mere aesthetician to alter. While we are on this topic, why can't we use the aesthetician to alter our appearance such as our skin color, eye color, tail length etc.?

I have fantasia'd to almost everything at some point. All female character types except viera and miqo'te, as well as male midlander and lalafell. You know, the way I would tell it to people is it wasn't I wasn't happy with my female middie. It's that I wanted to prove to myself that what I settled with is the best for me and, while you can level an alt and try stuff on to get an idea, nothing quite like running duties with all your glams to really know if something is right. I tried to give all the other races a serious, sincere chance, to make sure I wasn't just playing what I did because it was what I was comfortable with, but to ensure it was right for me. Another way of seeing it is, well, since every race presents a different experience, I kind of saw it like spending money for a momentary entertainment, like renting a movie or something. Either way, I am glad I tried all the palatable options with sincerity, so I had that experience as well as proved to myself the thing I have been playing for four years is the right thing.
I got really deep into RP this year, which I think further complicated ever doing a fantasia. Would definitely mean rewrite, which could be fun, but I don't see myself changing.
There's no single race that fits my tastes, so eventually there's always SOMETHING that bothers me enough to change my race.
Moon Miqo and Viera are closest, but unfortunately Viera is a dumpster fire and Moon Miqos are not tall enough for me and have weird pupils.
I don't like Au Ra much but have been one at times because limbal rings are the closest we have to colored contacts, which I enjoy.
Contact lenses? Tanning/whitening creams?

A huge problem with this game isn't even necessarily how the races look, it's the hairs. Doesn't matter if they are male or female characters, if we had a good selection of quality hairs, it would make a world of difference.

Perhaps you just found the race that makes you feel home and they haven't. I used to be a fantasia addict too and changed my character frequently because I was never 100% satisfied. Since I went female Viera I never looked back though.Consumed a Fantasia a few weeks ago to become a Miqo'te, mostly because I was getting turned down for RP because I was a Lalafell.
3 hours later, had to go back to my Lalafell. I had absolutely no connection to the new character. None. I looked at her in cutscenes, and I just got sad because she wasn't mine. She was an imposter.
I made one of my retainers look exactly the same as my old Lalafell, but that just made me even sadder.
So, yeah. Two fantasias in the span of three hours.
Yet, I see people dropping Fantasias like they're sick beats.
People I know are changing their race/look every week.
Do you guys not have personal connections do your characters?

When animations are shared greatly between all models, and gear restrictions are becoming less and less of a thing, I would argue that the look you create for your character between CC combinations and glamour choices are the only defining factor.
