I uh...bought my way through. I would just buy an HQ item that was starred from the GC Turn ins. Wasn't spending gil on anything else.

I've used three on my Elezen in the past. One to change skin tone for RP to reflect finally figuring out his parentage and to change his eye color to reflect going back and forth to Norvrandt a lot. The second time was because I looked at him at just the right angle and thought he looked like Liv Tyler. It eventually got too much for me and I had to change him up. It wasn't him and I couldn't deal with that more than I couldn't handle the Liv Tyler thing so he went back to his original form.

The Roe's never been changed and never will.

I did that for the low levels, before I started doing the Ixal quests. Then I was doing the tribal quests all the way through. Barely doing any other crafting outside of those and custom deliveries.

I actually used the free fantasia to change my cat girl into my OC; now I'm a lot more into the character.

However people might find it easier to drink if they are kindness-infused. (kudos to anyone that gets the reference)
