I mean I like Volcanic heart too. I love having more things to worry about in a match than just "does Sam have LB? does nin have LB(what's my hp% ^_^; )? Am I too close to the WHM?". I get really bored in the pokemon stadium and irritated when some nerd runs up the sprint lane solo and dies. I really do agree with Reiny-boy about the maps just needing to be randomized instead of an hour per each.

R-... "Reiny-boy"? Anyhow pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Also I would like to remind people that there is more to a map than the gimmick, namely map layout ans traversal options.

I don't think C9 is bad because of the gimmick, I think it is bad because of the midfight being around a singular chokepoint with two massive squares of no cover to utilise, similarly the transition from 2nd to Final point. It makes pushing needlessly more hazardous and leaves nearly no option for retreat in most scenarios.

The map layout from the new map is enticing, putting displacement CC aside I think it has some good wall setup without going crazy on it.

*looks at gimmicks that are now permissible to 1shot, that clearly favor certain jobs that can abuse them/prevent enemy players from countering them, knowing that your team's comp is random*

"It makes winning needlessly more random and leaves nearly no option for counterplay in most scenarios"

No counterplay..? Just don't run in to a reaper or dancer while they have LB ready if youre not planning to chain CC them. If you dont have any CC on your team then you should be playing defensively utilizing line of sight in the first place.

As far as getting 1 shot on the checkpoint, I think the counterplay is just everyone playing defensively while the samurai toys are active. Playing aggressive (which most impatient players like to do) will juat get you the ultimate punishment.

The only time you should realistically play aggro while those samurai toys are out is if you have a DRK or PLD who pops LB on the checkpoint in overtime for that last push past 50% to win your team the game.

    - Reaper has the fastest charging LB in the game next to if not faster than WHM and you say not to run into them when they have LB? You have any idea how hard that is? Not to mention that chain cc can be invalidated by Bard, WHM, or PLD. You're not gonna be able to rely on just dodging reapers until you can chain cc them in higher rankings.

    - Not all the time do you have the option to play defensively. If your team has pushed ahead and already broken 50%, when the enemy team has their opportunity to break your 50%, that can take less than 5 seconds which means you gave up your checkpoint entirely for free because of RNG if you don't want to press the enemy team during the toy phase. If you are even remotely close to the edge of the aoe trying to cheese getting back in close, a WAR/DRK can yank you into it.

    - Even without a Reaper/DNC to break your guard, WAR can do the same thing as well with its LB. Which means you could potentially be dealing with rotating LB's between them based on RNG comps.

    - There's also a gaze mechanic on another toy which I don't even want to think about having to deal with while possibly chasing an important target.

    - You have WAR/DRK, AST, MCH, MNK that will be able to cheese the floor breaks regularly as they have pull-in's/push-back's or Heavy/Bind, which means any fight that may break out in that territory, you may just be hit from unpurifiable CC. Heavied into a Bind, Purify, yank, sprint, yank again, half health damage = dead. You can also have WAR's sitting on it until 3-4s just to yank anyone in range and force them to eat the damage as a double suicide act that could pay off if the target is low or getting bursted. Oh, you got yanked in and tried to sprint away? MNK Dash, Stun, kick back, unpurifiable, have to burn guard to stop the kick if you even have it. Same principle for MCH. And worst than that is a DNC/RPR LB that happens on those tiles that may catch 2 ppl if a skirmish happens. I don't see entire teamfights happening on the tiles, but melee's will be on those tiles somewhat often as there's a health potion any escaping targets will be going for and potion denial is common in high rankings.

    - PLD's are also gonna be annoying class to deal with not only from being able to stand on the point during those moments thanks to LB, but also being able to use Cover->Guard to save people from said 1shot if they want to stand on the affected area as well.

    - Sage LB is going to be a toss up on whether the toy can get the PI/how it applies damage as it may flat out allow the entire team to stand in the aoe and not care, which is even stronger than PLD's LB.
