Actually, there has been. EU servers were moved from Canada to ...where ever they are now in Europe, I forget. However, they were always marked as "EU" it's just that they...weren't.

I don't think moving Tonberry would have been a good move, either. But no need to insult people for having a discussion.

If you reread my post, you'll see that I never attacked anyone, I only attacked the idea for being entitled, if it looked like an attack on the person, then I apologize.

My aim here isn't to stifle discussion, I support the idea of Materia getting help. But moving existing JP servers isn't helpful to anyone. Like I said before, it would just cause a mass exodus from the world and leave it a dead shell which helps no one and hurts everyone. Any other idea would be better than that.

I'm not offended. You are certainly entitled to your view and I certainly understand your not wanting to be picked up and moved somewhere else but there are thousands and thousands of people who are up the creek NOW without a paddle so to speak. There is precedent for moving servers they've done it before and sorry you and some others may not like the idea but they should have done so this time too in my opinion and not created a data center set up for failure. Relative to a mass exodus that's certainly not a given it wasn't the case for other servers affected by server moves in the past.

This is my opinion and I won't change how I honestly feel about the situation at the moment.

They chose not to offend anyone but what they did was offend thousands of people who made the decision to trust the development team and move to a new data center with the hopes and aspirations that it would work and it's pretty obvious it hasn't worked and doesn't appear to be going to work. As I've said on other occasions this is a fun DC for me. I don't have my main here and I'm personally able to get what I want done but that's not the case for many many people who are here.

SE created the mess not the people here and they need to act and do something quick to help them because doing nothing is simply giving them the finger and telling them to take it of leave it and many are doing just that LEAVING IT.

People in this thread are not asking for server moves now they are asking for relief and relief can come in the form of data center travel but the question is will SE act or simply ignore the problem and hope it goes away.

Being that both Materia and Dynamis are struggling with player population?

Hear me out....what if we merge Materia and Dynamis together into a single data center? That way, the Oce worlds would gain access to the NA data center and Dynamis would be a more populated data center which would help with it's queue times.

Not to mention the savings SE would reap with not having to set up another batch of 4 NA servers which would be even deader than the current worlds on Dynamis.

Any thoughts?

From the way people on this forum describe the behaviour of NA players, I don't think I want to be linked to it. I would be straight back to JP for both that and geographical distance to the server.

Most of Dynamis is fine, at least those staying on Dynamis to play. Seraph can be a little strange around the main city Aetherytes but I haven't had problems with anyone in the open world zones or Duty Finder yet.

But I definitely understand why a good part of Materia if not the majority would prefer to go back to the JP worlds if SE decided to close/merge that data center. Most are already used to the game culture there.

I still think opening cross-region travel would be the better thing to do. Players wouldn't have transferred to Materia if they didn't want to be part of a new data center community. If the delay is due to resistance on the JP side, then just exclude JP from cross-region travel. They're evidently the ones with objections, not us.

While it would unfortunately change nothing in the current situation for those Materia players hoping to play with JP friends again, at least it would open up the opportunity to play with those on the NA and EU worlds.
