Being that both Materia and Dynamis are struggling with player population?

Hear me out....what if we merge Materia and Dynamis together into a single data center? That way, the Oce worlds would gain access to the NA data center and Dynamis would be a more populated data center which would help with it's queue times.

Not to mention the savings SE would reap with not having to set up another batch of 4 NA servers which would be even deader than the current worlds on Dynamis.

Any thoughts?

From the way people on this forum describe the behaviour of NA players, I don't think I want to be linked to it. I would be straight back to JP for both that and geographical distance to the server.

Most of Dynamis is fine, at least those staying on Dynamis to play. Seraph can be a little strange around the main city Aetherytes but I haven't had problems with anyone in the open world zones or Duty Finder yet.

But I definitely understand why a good part of Materia if not the majority would prefer to go back to the JP worlds if SE decided to close/merge that data center. Most are already used to the game culture there.

I still think opening cross-region travel would be the better thing to do. Players wouldn't have transferred to Materia if they didn't want to be part of a new data center community. If the delay is due to resistance on the JP side, then just exclude JP from cross-region travel. They're evidently the ones with objections, not us.

While it would unfortunately change nothing in the current situation for those Materia players hoping to play with JP friends again, at least it would open up the opportunity to play with those on the NA and EU worlds.
