Anyone else holding out hope for Machinist?

Machinist in Stormblood was bad, but with good ping you were absolutely competitive when it came to dps. Was it fun? Absolutely not, playing MCH in savage was awful and way too much work compared to playing bard, but it was possible to be up there with the likes of BLM, SAM, SMN and MNK.

After Stormblood and the ShB MCH rework however you didn't even have the chance to perform well anymore. The job is just as ping reliant as ever (even if the Flamethrower servertick nonsense is gone) but now you also deal laughable dps for a job that brings nothing else to the table and that won't change no matter how perfectly you play.

Personally I loved sb mch even for all its flaws, because the concept of overheat and ammo and party support with the biggest burst in the game was what made me absolutely love it... And I played it on 200ms ping back then. Yeah I had to suffer with all the clipping and high ping rotations but I was still having fun.

Done. Gave ShB MCH a try for 2 tiers and an Ultimate in ShB, got sick of how dumbed down and shallow it is and then moved to BLM.
Played BLM for 3 tiers and an Ultimate. Now sick of BLM, but there's no job that gives as much depth as BLM anymore aside from BLU.

I don't mind it staying as a "selfish dps", because honestly in the end of the day it's just numbers, but Machinist needs more utility, or an optimal situation of "rdps equality" with DNC and BRD will never do, because they have healer support tools that are extremely useful on prog. And if MCH's numbers are buffed way ahead of the aiming group, then DNC and BRD will certainly go through some exclusion.

What kind of utility MCH could get without reworking everything? Considering Curing Waltz/Improv and Minne/Paean, I'd say it could benefit from 2 new actions, something that wouldn't overlap those - some ideas:

- Party shield (since DNC already has party healing);
- The old Palisade back, a single target mitigator. Probably only useful as people are in entry gear, but I remember how satisfying it was to help tank's defenses;
- A "Physical Magic Barrier";
- A version of SCH's "Expedient" only focused on the movement speed.

I've seen the idea of a rez floating around, but honestly it would bring more problems than it would solve, unless they gave everyone the option of using phoenix downs in combat and the dpser rezzes would be more of a "QoL"better version" of those instead of identity niches.

I might be in the huge minority, but I'd love to see machinist reworked heavily. I'd like to see it more laser and mech based (See Rose Prime Operator from elsword), than bullet based, (In this game I guess it would be more Allagan Based).

Of course the general gameplay would change as well with different type of rotation and resource building.

And of course. Staying a Selfish DPS (with like a telepad movement or some kind of little utility), which does mean it needs damage to get buffed up.

All I would like is for MCH to be less ping reliant, and perhaps a better AoE combo. I otherwise really enjoy it. Also I think there doesn't need to be any "selfish" Ranged DPS, all Ranged DPS (not the same as Caster DPS) jobs should be able to bring party utility. MCH should also be the simplest (in comparison) job, for not only gameplay, but for lore reasons (as it was designed to be easily accessible to those with a bit of training and know how). Hope I am making sense.
