People like you and this fake community touting itself and the game as the greatest thing to ever exist, and making excuses for all of our limitations and shortcomings. I pay a 30 day sub to do 2 days of content, and login to half of my server being bots, and nothing to do but get spammed by gold sellers and ERP venues.
I'll stay subbed because this place is an echo chamber of self-masturbatory Yoshi-P praise otherwise.
Hopefully they grab instances like Eureka, Diadem and Bozja and somehow redo their foundations to work like Islands. Would be a dream to do Bozja/Zadnor things while waiting on dungeon queues on DDs...
Yikes, don't lump us all together with them. Level-headed people are perfectly capable of criticizing aspects of something they like, even if it's FFXIV. Sorry don't mean to be too harsh. I'm still definitely a part of the community, and know it's not a majority. So saying it's the whole community isn't really true. But they're always the first to talk, and always the loudest.
Sometimes it feels like we're frogs in a boiling pot and nobody's asking questions, just telling each other how relaxing the new hot tub is.

you do know the entirety of 14 is instanced with a false feeling of open-world , right?Open world wouldn't have the same flexibility that the duty version offers. Aside from opening up to the whole DC, you also have things like the duty action and limit bar which just wouldn't exist in an open world setting. It allows gatherers to level up without being fully progressed on main story.
I assume they do it that way because they expect it to be popular at launch and don't want people hogging it up AFK. In a duty you'll get kicked after a few minutes of being AFK. If they just made it regular zone with instances then everyone would AFK there and all the instances would be packed full all the time (at launch, at least), which then also causes other problems like making it hard for people to go into their houses because of how the instance server works.
You do know there are different levels of instancing with different servers handling each, right? This isn't about what's real or false, but about what the zone is intended for and how it's best handled.

I was gonna send christmas cards to everyone at the forums but you had to wind up and kill the mood. Expect lumps of coal in your spriggan hat stocking.
gtfoh with that righteous bs. You absolutely mean to be harsh. I wasn't even stating any kind of opinion and you just have to make yourself known utter some bs about simping and list gripes where they don't even belong. If you played more than a couple days at a time, you might actually see why things are as they are in this case, but you want to loot and scoot, so you're opinion doesn't matter. Your sub can't end soon enough.Sorry don't mean to be too harsh. I'm still definitely a part of the community, and know it's not a majority. So saying it's the whole community isn't really true. There is already open world gathering, FATEs, hunt trains, and, of course, the main story line.
This specific Duty (Diadem) was created much like those for Bozja and Eureka. A fixed world whose shape and size was determined back in Heavensward. Why create something new when you can use what is already there? The instance, the art, the entire 'space' has been rededicated for another purpose. You're saying that open world wouldn't have as much flexibility, so it's clear you're thinking of spaghetti bullshit everyone else does when they make excuses for the lack of fun, when you're just making assumptions on why Duties are more flexible.
Technically speaking, each area of the "open world" is also a dedicated instance, complete with its own things to do.It's reverse armchair dev when we know those systems already exist in a pocket, the pocket is just too strict.
Do you get your kicks from statements like this? Were you traumatized while running through Eureka as a young Lalafell? Do you gather in Diadem, or are you just adding your two cents in this conversation? Are you a real human being, or an AI built by someone who is disenchanted with the responses one gets on Reddit? Why do you play this game? What sort of things do you actually like about this game?Stop simping and start asking questions.
Those kinds of questions?
