I wouldn't necessarily equate venue RP with a fair estimate of how RP works tbh. This isn't disparaging on venues by any means, and of course everyone's entertainment is valid so long as it doesn't hurt other players, but the RP that tends to happen there, at least that I've seen, is really sporadic and constantly interrupted by other players talking OoC or emote spamming or just running around in general, even in the heavily RP focused venues I've been to.

Maybe I'm just spoiled coming from D&D and my current group that doesn't really focus on venues and instead does things similar to D&D (except without the dice and mechanics rules and focusing on rule of cool lol).

For example, one of my friends ran a plot a while back that at a major point in the plot focused heavily on our characters' deepest wishes and nightmares. It was super neat and felt almost like a tabletop roleplaying game, but in 14 lol.

Again, no shade being thrown at venues or people who enjoy them, it's just hard for me to see them as big RP centers when the extent of RP in a lot of them is a staff member occasionally saying something IC. Then again, I'm not really a bar/party scene kind of person so the appeal of a lot of these places is already lost on me haha
