Feeling really down about no mog gifts for Christmas

Just because WoW made the concept accepted with the "Gamurz™" doesn't mean that SE gets a free pass at doing the same thing. We can go into how XIV has copied the bad parts of WoW as well (dailies/fomo/cash shops in a game with a monthly fee/ect.) but defending SE to this degree reeks of the same type of person that allowed past MMOs to fall into the usual trappings and then scratches their head when the game is hemorrhaging players.

I'm not giving them a free pass on anything because they're not clearly doing the same thing as WoW. Like I said earlier, cash shops are necessary for the survival of these games. There was a time I would say necessary evil, but there's nothing to be lost by completely ignoring the store. Your claim of them hemorraging players is baseless and ignores the fact that there's more competition for people's time than there used to be.

I have no problem defending the dailies as they serve the purpose of actually helping other players and keep the older content fresh. It's not just about getting people to login for a prize.

Could they do some things better? yes... but I'm gonna call bullshit where I see it. The idea that this cash shop is some malicious predatory entity and WoW's isn't is the biggest steaming pile.

The FOMO items are predatory because they should just stay available in game at the event vendor. This year's Easter event, for example, had a FATE which gave eggs you then spent on a small pool of items at a vendor. All Easter event rewards ever added into XIV should've just been available at the vendor and newer players would just farm the FATE more to unlock them.

To be fair, you already can cancel your sub and keep your house since demo has been off for like a year. A friend of mine hasn't resubbed in 7 months and still has his.

The bottom line here is they will be available, which is nowhere near the same thing.

After a brief investigation, an internet user discovered that patch 9.1 has quietly removed 13 quests related to Torghast Tower, including those requiring us to find Jaina and Thrall in The Maw. The former character has also received a changed dialogue when we talk to her in the city of Oribos: the sorceress informs us that she was saved by another hero (i.e. the player character). This proves that the sudden disappearance of these quests (which are automatically marked as completed) was intentional on the part of the developers. In fact, they confirmed this in response to Lenestar's submission (via Reddit).

It should be noted that along with these quests, events that are relevant to the storyline have also disappeared, whether in the form of cutscenes or in-game dialogues. Even if their importance is considered minimal, players see no reason why Blizzard should remove these quests entirely. To make matters worse, there was no mention of these quests in patch 9.1, as you would expect from such an important change.

They started doing this in BFA. War of Thornes was probably the coolest pre-patch event in the game in terms of lore and it was axed. All those dev resources wasted and if you missed it Then they deleted all Heart of Azeroth quests for Magni, getting Mother, etc. They had been catchup quests but they all got axed with each patch making the Heart of Azeroth story non-sensical if you jumped in at 8.3.

Imagine starting WoW blind in 2021:

step 1: start a new character on a boat that crashes and you fight ogres raising a zombie dragon. Why? where is this? what were you doing? who knows!

Step 2: now bad news kid, its war, you are going off to bfa where the planets blood is a powerful crystal, why? who knows you sure dont know about the sword in silithus as you dont get the heart quest till level 40 if you even bother. Now cross these zones, maybe two max gearing up for a war.

Step 3: too bad you hit lvl.50 so forget that war, now you are going to this frozen castle you dont know to go into the afterlife which is in the sky, dont question it, to rescue people who outside jaina you have never met. Enjoy questing through these floating bowls re-meeting people you have never met and dont understand the significance of to stop sylvanas. Who? doesn’t matter if you are alliance you never met her.

Step 4: Those people you came to rescue? yeah that part was patched out they are fine NOW LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT SIGILS

Has anyone actually ever caught pressured of staying subbed solely for their house? Hasnt auto-demolition already been turned off for like a year now? Isnt this why available plots are extremely scarcer than usual due to this being a limited plot system?

Why are people still bringing up the retention for housing? As far as I'm aware this hasnt been an issue at all.

Anyway please just give us instanced housing SE.
