I always run War when doing roulettes so I decided to run them as a pld. Is there a new meme where healers get upset if the pld heals themselves or others? In two of the roulettes one healer asked why I was spending time healing some of the pt instead of dpsing and the other time the healer shot off a comment of "hey pld, you don't need to heal..." before leaving the dungeon. Am I missing something or do people not expect plds to heal anymore? :/

PLD should never be casting clemency unless the healer is dead and you're preventing a wipe on a pull that can still succeed. You flat out do more damage than the healer (assuming no gear/skill discrepancies of course), which is what you should be focused on, and clemency eats up a bunch of MP that would otherwise go to your casting rotation. It sucks, I freaking love being able to be a backup healer, but that's not how this game is designed unfortunately.

Now if you're a GNB, that's a different story, but that's probably moreso that they don't always need aurora for themselves, and heart of corundum is an almost spammable get out of jail free card for a party member, and both abilities have the benefit of being OGCDs.

You should be healing only when healers are dead, unless you're using Intervention to help someone survive a lethal mechanic. Clemency is a DPS loss and should be avoided as long as a healer is alive. Healers have 90% of their toolkit designed to heal in cheaper and less-DPS expensive cost than a PLD does. You healing makes most of their toolkit rendered useless and turn their gameplay back to a level 4 job where all they do is press the damage button. I think most people hate Satasha level gameplay at level 90, and healers are not an exception to this (things have gotten pretty bad as of late for the healer role in general since tanks can just keep themselves alive without a healer once gear ilvl increases, making most of the healer gameplay so utterly boring at times once you are get accustomed to healing efficiently).

They get mad if you Clemency. The other heals/mitigation are oGCDs so they can be weaved in without slowing down your own DPS.

If you're WAR, your heal is an OGCD and it's an effect of a mitigating cooldown. So it's fine, it's natural for WARs atm to heal for this much.
PLDs have similar stuff, with some skills healing them automatically.

If you're using Clemency, however, it's incredibly wasteful. You're better off just DPSing stuff down, as the sooner stuff dies, the less we have to exert ourselves. If you Clemency, you're just risking tripping over the Healer who might be using their own resources to heal you, and stuff isn't dying any faster.

Also it's a bit awkward on AST as one of the primary heals we have is better if you're at 30% HP.

Every time Clemency comes up it's always someone whining while seeking to optimize dungeon content. There are worse things going on at that level. DPS on PLD isn't going to make a huge difference if it's interrupted once or twice.

Okay. And? People still explained something, plus it's a skill that tends to lead to bad habits later on.

You're right, it's not a super big deal in dungeon content, but someone asked why people get pissy when a PLD clemencies and an explanation was offered.
