If the quest is just wonky you could trade in a Zeta relic to skip that step entirely. You will lose the Zeta weapon so make sure you don't like the look of it before you sacrifice it.

you can get a replica of it, so you wont lose it (other than the stats)

It genuinely frustrated me ahah, I'd been stuck in one area for what amounts to hours of gameplay struggling to get a single crystal, yet the moment I switch servers everything's fine again. This game is gaslighting me!!!!! > /jk

It's a cool relic though. I got it for my PLD sword and WHM staff.

I realize this is awhile back but they have long since fixed that, they now stack and it goes faster when targeting the SOLO fate targets!

You have no idea how relieved I was when I figured that out!!!!!! you do not have to grind every fate until it drops, you only need the SOLO targets.
