I too love a good witch burning! No wonder SE's lawyers don't have to do much, the community is the distilled version of that kid that goes "Teacher, you forgot to give us homework!" lmao
Final Fantasy XIV is a “mod game” now. Just like Skyrim and Minecraft, modding is a core staple of the FFXIV community. It gives us something to do during “droughts”. Many people deeply love and cherish the FFXIV modding community, and likely wouldn’t play otherwise. Combat mods, reskins, even unlocking store outfits for free—and you can share all of it with your friends! Yoshida already said he’s not doing anything to police mods anymore. And we agree with him: you, reading this right now, probably agree that mods and add-ons are acceptable.
So back to the matter at hand: Cactpot. It’s the exact same as Discord call-outs, which are almost universally required by NA parties. So why not Cactpot? Don’t have a PC? Well, what if you didn’t have a phone to use Discord with? Not a good excuse. We can all agree that call-out are good, and Cactpot just gives us a machine version.
So, the question is: is it okay for parties to mandate Cactpot? I say yes. And if you’ve agreed with me so far, there’s no logical reason why you wouldn’t agree here.
DBM yesterday, Cactpot today.

Funny enough XI is a mod game as well to the point you had devs going "I know people use windower, but don't use it!" and then going to vanafest with Windower and key mods installed on all of the computers for the event. SE is funny like that, lol.Final Fantasy XIV is a “mod game” now. Just like Skyrim and Minecraft, modding is a core staple of the FFXIV community. It gives us something to do during “droughts”. No I will not get out of your house, the devs wanted neighbourhoods and Im your permanent annoying neighbour that auto-invites herself for coffee. Or tea, Im not picky. But have some cake on hand otherwise this is just rude.
Sounds like you are a Wallace from WoW - A gnome who refused wearing shoes.
It was quirky to play like that, until eventually the community decided it was not and shunned it.
Just like here right now folks with lacking the job stones at 40+.
The only real difference is that a good shot caller is correct most of the time. Cactbot is literally never wrong.Final Fantasy XIV is a “mod game” now. I don't think I even have a table to sit at in my apartment so we're gonna have to sit on the floor to eat this cake...with all the Bokos.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
