    But it's rare for a boss, hunt mark, or trash mob to only use something you'd need to figure out proper mitigation for once in a fight. So, sure you might not use the few magic mitigation tools the game gives us the first time but repeated exposure to said attack should allow you to remember that you need to use X for Y. Like back during ARR if you were a healer you knew you should throw up a stoneskin or save a strong heal for Death Sentence. Or if you didn't have any way to help soften the blow then it'd be up to your tank to take extra precautions on their end.

    No, I agreed that you need to change the colour of things for colourblind people. But that turning it black and white won't solve the problem in a more generalised audience because brightness =\= hue, (aka, colour), and there are different ways where it can go poorly.

    For example, on P3S. Gaudy orange everywhere. The damage text tends to be red, which might blend with the background. But if we change it to black, it's going to be hard to read because of the nature of black as a simple text colour. Unless they make it especially bold, it will blend with striations on the floor, animations coming from the boss and even people. If we do the same for white instead, then it can blend with bright animations and the already-bright background that permeates the fight.

    Which is why black and white, while useful for colourblind people regardless because everyone can read it ON PAPER, realistically it might just be very, very hard to properly pull off.

    And here's the thing. Black text might help on Mt Gulg but white text sure won't. And if it's going to be like this, how do we determine what black text will be for magic or physical? You're gonna go with different shades of gray? Because I reiterate. The problem at that point is Brightness, not Hue. Brightness can be really finnicky to distinguish, especially more so than differences in Hue. Oh you can spot them alright, as in you can actually tell it's there. But good luck actually telling dark gray from slightly lighter gray apart on an instance where everything is saturated and bright. Or in instances where everything is very dark like P9S.

    If you can do it, good on you. For real. I sure know I can't. I know it's there but if you give me text that I need to tell apart from its counterpart based on brightness alone, I'll question what the bleeding hell kind of art design course you've been in. Because there are better ways to go around colourblindness than just resorting to differences in brightness.

    Fun fact, this is actually why cream yellow background with black font is more legible than white background with black font. You read faster that way. Because the contrast between the brightness of the background with the font won't tire your eyes. Brightness has an effect on everyone, not just colourblind people, and it can lead to different problems than hue changes.

    Yeah. And that in itself is a problem, I won't deny it. What you wrote has absolutely nothing to do with what I wrote though? I meant that the icons may be visual clutter but are helpful for colourblind people to understand what's coming given the really crappy settings we're given. What you're doing is taking what I said and saying that the function is wrong. Which, again, that I won't deny, because you may very well be right and I'm not the best indicated to speak on it... but it's just not what I was talking about.

    On your opinion though? The only explanation I have for why they did it is that maybe Square views this information as "cheating", and thus they still want you to go through the instance and wipe to things while figuring out what hit you? Like, as it stands right now, you still need to go in and figure out which cooldowns to use. What they'll implement will give you that information, but force you to still take the hit and be like "ok, gonna take note of that".... erm... th... I don't know T_T;

    ...It's stupid, I know, but it's the only way I can explain this to begin with. One thing that they could just do is add the icons to the right side of the cast bar and make them change accordingly? idk :x Their logic is WEIRD.

    I can't wait for the portraits to come at the start of dungeons. It will make it easier to know who I should commend. I will still probably have to open all the party member adventurer plates though to check the messages.

    .w. you'll commend people based on their profiles and not how good they play and if they were helpful?

    Eugh. Easily the worst change. I hope they finally make it so if your plate is set to private no portrait is shown. The fact that they can't even properly center their default portrait is such a joke.
