I personally never asked for anything. i'm just befuddled by the need to have unique trophies or whatever. It stinks of fragile egos if that's the real motivation behind playing ranked.

I am glad you enjoy playing without desiring trophies of the like. However to call it "fragile egos" is a bit harsh when we are merely critical in your time invested vs what we reap and judging if it is worth trying hard in Ranked or if we can just stomp in Casual for essentially the same thing.
Obviously not reinventing the wheel here, Top 100 was meant for those who are considered "the best", which is difficult to *not* make it time-limited without essentially invalidating what the reward means as a status symbol after it is reobtainable. It is a painful system, but one that I think ensures high-level competition being taken serious.
Apart from that, I always wanted individual tiers (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, crystal) to receive currency that is limited to Ranked only, so there is an actual reason to play Ranked over just grinding the Battle Pass after Lv30 endlessly. Something where even Bronze players can eventually work towards and/or have incentive to get better and into higher tiers.
Right now - we have neither, with a mode that is objectively easy to get into. And putting JP numbers aside, it clearly shows how it stagnates with every season of the same crap for the rest of the playerbase.
Plain in simple - Ranked needs incentive. If not Top 100, it needs Ranked-only currency with rewards befitting them. We can talk in circles around how we are supposed to play the mode for fun, honour or for the thrill of competition, but with nothing on the line it just feels like Casual with a different brush of paint and slimmer queues.

Thank you for making my point further. You play for goodies and rewards, got it.I am glad you enjoy playing without desiring trophies of the like. If you really think that casual is the same than ranked, I have to wonder what rank you're evolving with to come to such a conclusion? Casual is full of casuals, and new players to the mode. Going in there feels like seal clubbing every time, on top of having clownfiestas (which is to be expected, it's not diamond/crystal).

Yes I am and I'm tired of people who think it is a bad thing that I do. God forbid I have my unique goodies for competing on ladder in my MMORPG where I want to stand out.
I also do other things for incentive and skip things without incentive. Shocker, right? I value my time in what I gain out of it.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing. I'm saying this is fundamentally opposed and detrimental to the kind of system I want to evolve in, and i'll never stop pushing back against it.Yes I am and I'm tired of people who think it is a bad thing that I do. I think it's bad that at the very most 100 players per datacenter get access to standing out at the cost of the rest of the playerbase, because in my mind mounts and glamour are way more character customization options than they are prestige items. In a battle between prestige and access to character customization options, the latter would weigh so strong that it would forever prevent the introduction of any sort of generic FOMO customization reward period.I'm not saying this is a bad thing. There is a certain spiritual value to the 1.0 rewards, so those are special in my mind and they make sense.
I wanna ask this question: If the reward to stand out was a crown or a medal which says #X (X being your placement in the top 100) would you still care? Is it just about standing out, just about the prestige, or isn't it also about having something that others want but can't have? As far as I'm concerned there is absolutely nothing about the top 100 rewards that would in any way signify them as being special PvP rewards, they are generic and something everybody would care about.
ranked can get a crown/frame/title/furniture item, anything beyond that im not ok with because ranked got like 16-18 seasons worth of glamours that were FOMO rewards while the whole casual side of things *literally 90% of pvp* was neglected, not only that i think EVERYBODY should be able to go get these rewards at any time since the FOMO reward system is just.... bad, i can't think of anybody that actually /likes/ this. all in all, if they don't plan on changing the reward structure they should at least make sure to update the series pass and crystal shop every season and on top of that make sure that theres a incentive to get players into ranked like giving them more series pass exp for playing ranked... even more exp if they win.I think it's bad that at the very most 100 players per datacenter get access to standing out at the cost of the rest of the playerbase, because in my mind mounts and glamour are way more character customization options than they are prestige items. I'm confused and wonder if you are actually addressing me or somebody else. I thought I've been pretty adamant in mentioning again and again that I just don't give a fudge about ego rewards. You're just asking this to the wrong person.I wanna ask this question: If the reward to stand out was a crown or a medal which says #X (X being your placement in the top 100) would you still care?
