I mean, we don't have a half as crazy Ul'dah as Balmung does, but...

Unless FF14 is some weird phenomenon, no, not really. Cultural differences IRL sure, but in game EU and NA are largely the same, based on the various online games I've played over the years. This idea that EU doesn't have any toxic players/trolls is delusion at its best. And that's nothing against EU players, it's just a matter of fact that crappy people exist everywhere. There are plenty of good people on both NA and EU as well.

By 'culture' difference, I mean beyond the realms of gameplay.

Americans, as a whole, tend to be very loud and abrupt. A lot more offensive stuff in their chat. Racism in their Free Companies, etc. etc. Americans place a much bigger 'focus' on politics. I have seen people get kicked out of guilds on MMOs because they didn't share the same political views as the guild owner. That has never happened in any of my European guilds. Why? Cos people just don't give a crap about discussing politics with others, nor judging people on it like it is a team sport.

Lots of political discussion when you have a world chat on a server (which luckily FF14 does not)

Americans are also very me-centric. The world has to revolve around the individual. That is actually one of the reasons why panel shows haven't worked in the US but have in every country. Everybody is in it for themselves rather than the good of the group. This me-centric thing is something that really has an impact on gameplay. Note how the vast majority of World 1sts in MMOs are from Europeans and not Americans. Europeans tend to work better as teams.

You wouldn't get that on European servers.

The only American server I can stomach playing is ESO NA on Xbox, and that is only because nobody actually uses the chat system there.

It is actually quite a surprise, because Europe is filled with multiple countries that know how to work together, and the US (despite what Americans believe) is a single country with fairly unified beliefs across the board, and yet still can't work together in anything.

The rest would be a MASSIVE culture clash. It would be a complete shit-show, like it is on Black Desert Online (which brings American and European servers together).

Happy for Europe to share servers with Australia and Canada (as their ideals are very British), but Americans need to be kept out of it.

I have played a LOT of MMOs, and I have experienced it a lot more often on American servers. It is much more open there. Not saying it doesn't happen on European servers, just that it is rarer.

EU has in fact a nicer culture overall. From greeting in dungeons over patience with players and being overall nice to each other. Most prominent example is how Eureka is handled. On NA Eureka "fates" are instantly pulled from my experience. On EU people wait for like 10min, at least i experienced that a couple times, for people to arrive and literally NOBODY trolls and early pulls the bosses.

Also EU uses shout and yell chat not for conversations, which NA does frequently. Which is all great tbh but people on EU and JP don't really like that and find it impolite. Especially towards the console players cause the chat just well auto scrolls, thanks to SE tho.

But yeah as i said i can only speak from my own experience, i played 2 years on NA overall and the rest on EU which is like 4-5 years. EU has also their weird and bad players, can't deny that. I also had bad experiences on EU. But i can say the overall atmosphere is much nicer over here, it's a bit less meme and troll heavy. NA feels more like the wild west, which is not bad many players probably prefer it that way and i find some of it also funny.

But that's why it is good that we don't have region travel. Cause now people can choose where to play, be it on the more wild NA, more calm EU or well really polite and orderly JP. Or the dead OCE servers. (They are new tho, just needs time to build their population.) No need to homogenize everything tbh.

People greet in dungeons in NA.
People are generally patient in NA, unless it's a clear party or you're not reaching a prog point of a practice party (which is understandable).
People wait in Eureka and get pretty annoyed when people instapull.
Shout/yell in non-Limsa zones are dead.

Everything you've attributed to EU happens in NA too, on a regular basis. This is why anecdotal evidence isn't entirely reliable.

And to your final point, absolutely not. Separating friends from being able to play together will never be okay and the goal should be for them to be able to play together, and you will never convince me that it's an acceptable restriction. The entire point of MMOs is playing with other people, and restricting people from doing that is not great. You're also forcing people to choose between ping and friends.
