When do you think they'll add cross-region data center travel? OCE is screwed!

It’s not so much racism as there are just genuinely different ways the communities have evolved to do content.

It’s not a big thing, but the overall patience of players with other players that comes with the Japanese culture is something people enjoy keeping around. The whole “Wa” thing (needs of all before the needs of the individual/not complaining to maintain a calm/comfortable atmosphere).

Sure it happens, but I rarely meet an impatient/rude JP player in game. I have on several occasions met Eng speaking mentors who chew out newbies and just leave the group wasting everyone’s time.

So.., I would say that overall the communities are probably the same, but the bad apples in the ENG community stand out much more. At least to me, but I generally run with Japanese peeps.

The language barrier alone is reason enough. It can be frustrating not being able to communicate. But connecting OCE/NA isn't going to present any of these issues.

The irony of this is that I don't think anyone is thinking "wow, as soon as cross-region opens I'm going to go to a Japanese server and force myself on a unwilling community there". People want region travel to open so they can play with and make new friends.

Did you actually watched what happened when Asmongold, no matter if you care about youtubers and streamers in this case, started to play this game? Or do you think all these players were just "happy to make new friends" there? Our community like every community is full of trolls and douchebags and i hope you know that. JP has a different culture that pretty much prevents much of this cause of cultural based politness.

And NA players are already bothering people on JP, players who mod the game are taking screenshots in studios the JP players build which they explicit say they are against even so much to write it in the housing info. Some studios already closed cause of this and i don't think with region travel that would be gone but rather just amplified to a thousand.

So i would say leave everyone happy where they are atm, if you really want to experience another region for yourself then make a alt, with the road to 80 buff you can get on new servers it is not that hard and it costs you no money at all.

This whole "you can't play in MY HOUSE" attitude is childish and ridiculous, not to mention, overall a detriment to FFXIV. But, like we're saying, if JP wants to be left out then leave them out. One hugely xenophobic community shouldn't have a complete say over the other regions.

...I think you are somewhat overconfident here. Why would they not? If there is popular support for the option, and a need, then why would they not?

Because one part of the community doesnt like the idea? SE would need to take a much broader view, as this would be to benefit everyone...incl JP players who would also enjoy visiting and playing with OCE.

I love it when one person speaks for an entire region and associates the behavior of all members of another region by the rabid fanbase of one streamer. Lmfao.

Make it make sense. Seriously, why do people assume that one small group represents the entirety of the NA mentality instead of actually taking the time to get to know people and seeing we all don't share some hive mind?

Everyone's assuming that NA would flood the gates of JP and destroy them, but I personally know some NA players that are playing on JP just fine, in fact, they're indistinguishable from the other english speakers because they don't stick out.

I also highly doubt that NA would even bother coming to JP after the novelty wears off, they'd likely find the culture doesn't suit them and just return to their NA servers. Incompatible people don't generally hang around each other by choice.

The only legit concern about cross region is the marketboard pricing differences between NA and JP, if they disable the marketboard when in another region, then I don't see why cross region should be so opposed.
