Last weekend on Primal there were 81 listings in the "Other" category in Party Finder. 78 of those listings were for venues or 1-on-1 "R18+" RP. Of those 78, about 40 were duplicates of an existing listing or otherwise advertising the same venue. Literally more than half. One venue had EIGHT identical listings.
It has gotten completely out of hand. I appreciate that players should have a way to find social events and that necessitates some level of promotion. But let's call this what it is: spam.
At the bare minimum, duplicate advertisements should be considered a prohibited activity just as all other forms of spam and nuisance behaviour are. Advertisements in public chat channels should also be either prohibited or more strictly limited. Ideally I'd like to see the addition of something specifically for event promotion such as a social/RP category in Party Finder or even a separate noticeboard system entirely.
iirc it's reportable for repeats for spam. Like, if you get close to the hour mark for the PF to be up, make a new one and take down the old. That's fine. I wouldn't be frustrated over that. It would keep the PF clean. I don't want people getting their account actioned, but I do think there needs to be warnings to people or FC leaders/owners on not spamming up PF with repeat ads, especially on FC owners/leads who are probably paying the PF people with gil to advertise (as some do - they shouldn't be the ones in trouble.)Last weekend on Primal there were 81 listings in the "Other" category in Party Finder. 78 of those listings were for venues or 1-on-1 "R18+" RP. That or SE needs to expand how many people can fit on my blacklist. It's full and it's mostly PF spammers with their crappy nightclub ads instead of how it was with jerks from roulettes that I don't want to encounter again or people I don't like.
It is frustrating enough to be in cities and have the nightclub/brothels being advertised repeatedly via SHOUT, but the other night there were several players from other servers doing this type of advertising in the housing areas. That is just not cool. IRL there are things you might do in town that you do not do in quiet neighborhoods, especially if you are not from the area. When my friend politely asked one of the advertisers via a tell to please do this elsewhere other than the housing area, he was directed to talk to the “boss” of the dance club “managers” about it. I cracked up. They have “jobs” like this (boss, manager, advertisers) for a virtual, make believe nightclub/prostitution-style ring. It did not bother me as much as this just made me laugh.

Unrelated to the topic at hand, but IIRC blacklisting people does NOT prevent you from being grouped with them in roulettes. Just so you're aware.iirc it's reportable for repeats for spam. That sucks. I have blocked so many level 40 tanks who haven't upgraded their gear since level 10.
Hopefully by the time they roll around again, they will have new gear.
really hate when someone's new to the game and they act like they're new to the game.
SE needs to fix this amirite?
Most of the people aren't new. I don't block spouts.
It is people who are levelling a new class through the dungeon finder and not bothering to upgrade their gear between pops.
I wonder is this a DC specific issue? On Light you also have some people advertising their clubs but it's really just now and then and doesn't bother me at all but I totally could understand that if it was actually spammed every 2 minutes with
the party finder being full of their listings.
