Matchmaking in diamond tier is bad

Basically the title. I have been stuck in diamond 5 for most of the series. The second I get 2 stars on the riser, I start matching in exclusively with crystal tier players (frequently matched against top 10 players in my data center!) and I get hard stomped. Then I fall down and get close to de ranking to platinum and I match against platinum players that I then stomp. Surely it can't be too difficult to match me in with only diamond players. I've tried matching at all times of the day and nothing seems to work.

in all reality i doubt they will fix any of that in ranked since alot of folk don't actually touch it save for the people who actually care for the ugly frames, i stopped at plat season one because i liked how ONE part of the frame and that was the backround.

Square doesn't care about CC and the game is just not made for meaningful pvp with how bad the server tick rates are. I wish it wasn't the case but with how they have treated the mode I wouldn't get my hopes up.

honestly crystal games are your way out of diamond, if you cant compete with them now then maybe diamond is your limit and theres nothing wrong with that.

SE cannot do anything about it if there are not enough diamonds or platinums in queue in the last week of the season It can only match you with crystals cause it is the most active bracket throughout a season

I got to diamond in 34 games and it went from 5 minute queues to 45+ minutes wait time as soon as I got to Platinum (on light) and the only active period from my experience is somewhere between 6 to 8pm and even during that supposed peak time there's moments where you'll get 5 or so games under 5 minutes then back to waiting for over 20 mins to one hour. Currently down with a flu to have the energy to keep up so gonna park here and wait for tomorrow for new season, hopefully it fixes match times.

Most Light players went on to play their Alts on Chaos because the Queues pop there more regularly. You are left with handful of top 20 players that play at spesific times and then random assortment of Diamonds that might get the game rolling.

I got my top 100 early in the season and just bailed because I often waited longer for a match to pop than the actual time spent playing, besides the rewards are just pointless repeats so not many players will bother to play ranked once they have theirs.

Casual still pops regularly, but I have nothing but some of the grindiest achievements left, so I will probably just not touch it either until next Series hits. CC isn't good enough compared to most other PvP games to spend excessive amount of time on and even though the base is solid they can never make it good unless they go all the way to rework their netcode and that's not going to happen.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully they sort the system so I can just have match making games on my main without needing to be extra specific or do some alt thing. Just want to que up and game.

As much as I was in favor of de-rankings, it definitely hurt the queues. Crystal queue times are really long now and whenever I do play its in unranked now.

yeah I gave up at diamond tbh lol. casual is way less stressful and I can grind the rest of the achievements there
