Well said. While enabling us to accept titles such as Warrior of Light, we have yet to publish academic treatises on any of it. How are the scholars of Sharlayan to judge us, since they don't grant "honorary degrees"?
And yet, we've attended one beginning lesson in Aetherology and acted pretty much the part of a Gleaner in most of our encounters with Sharlayan academics. The expansion where we spend our time actually learning rather than acting will be the one in which he might recommend we be declared Archon. Somehow, I find the idea of reading in the forbidden section of the library to not be enough of a reward for the effort.
Again, it would be much cooler (and probable) if we obtained other tattoos outside of the one for Archon.

According to Encyclopedia Eorzea, Thancred earned his Mark for his survival and intelligence gathering skills and Yda earned hers for her martial prowess. It's not purely academics.
Correct. Although the Encyclopedia Eorzea is a bit looser in the descriptions. Both moved to Sharlayan. Both studied in Sharlayan. Thancred studied "survival and intelligence gathering techniques". Yda apparently studied martial arts. Both became really good at what they do.
Both are considered citizens of Sharlayan.
The Archon entry in the Encyclopedia Eorzea is pretty much the same as in the quest we've been referencing, by the way.
Who's saying to make that MSQ or a whole expansion out of it ? A single quest or sidequest could do the trick.
My WoL learned to perfectly play the piano in the firmament in an afternoon just for a sidequest, he can probably study for a week and obtain the cumulative archons title of all the scions !
But more seriously, if they ever gave it to us, it would probably be a meaningless reward for a quest or something.
Also you shouldn't post multiple times in a row like that, just edit your comment when replying to multiple people.

I'm not positive on this, but I believe Y'shtola being under the tutelage of Matoya, and likewise with Thancred being placed under the wing of Louisoix was how their academic efforts were recognized. Not exactly from the Studium, but kind of like getting a G.E.D. Yda, not too sure. The whole being dead thing makes it difficult for me to recall her past.

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
