I dont understand why you bring this as counter point of doing this? Am i not be able to adjust to NA you know ENGLISH speaking community? We got DC travel and i think no one cares if someone buys something from other DC marketboard..... The only SE does is ruining my (and there are many eu players like me who wished they played on better DCs) experience.

The number you actually see is a queue to get into queue for free space (people get into server in chunks), this is literally a system they have to prevent servers crashing from being overflown with logging people.

But yes i can argue that this is FAKE queue, even if server is half full you will be placed into this 5-30 people number thingy just because system is slow and w/e it has terrible settings to adjust on fly and let people login immediatly. Like 3 months prior endwalker, when Light DC was dead i constantly had this silly fake small people queues ....

It was literally talked about in lodestone posts long ago aswell, i think around endwalker launch and some dcs crashes/queue issues.

There are only 16 people with Crystals across entire DC... Healthy DCs have 100+ (maybe 200-300 even)

It's that each region has different playstyles and opinions on other regions that aren't necessarily kind. For example, NA is constantly talked about in a negative way by some in every region outside of NA and I'm not blind to the fact that the hate is returned by some on the NA side as well. JP & EU apparently use macros in content while NA does not and pretty much wings it or uses guides. NA uses Party Finder for pretty much everything that isn't normal 4 or 8 man content, while JP uses a mix of both depending on skill level. The point is that we'd need a way to co-exist without difference in playstyles clashing and causing conflicts. We'd also need to be able to not treat other people badly based on negative stereotypes but that's a pipe dream at best.

I want cross-region too. There's a lot of places I'd like to visit, especially on JP because there are a lot of cool housing wards that I've seen set up (like the outdoor market that's made up of several houses) but I don't have much hope of it happening right now. If it does, I'll be extremely happy. All we can do is wait and see if Square decides to open the gates in the future.

SE will have to take Drastic Measures if this is the Logic that many will take.
If the DC is left to die. More Chance they won't hear, or pay attention to what one Region wants outside of JP<which tbh, may become if it affects jp or not, if they'll do it>

Japanese players made clear that they don't want foreigners on the japanese datacenters. We will rather get personal instanced housing for everyone and Viera being able to wear all forms of hats than SE deciding to go against their own JP fanbase.

Which is a good thing, most cultures don't mix well especially JP with everyone else.

Considering what japanese players did to twitch streamers that used silly mods that will get later added into the game i do not want to hear about these obsessive SE white knights or even log on onto their server.

Would be great if NA to EU travel becomes a thing while JP hardlocked in their own mess, keep JP toxicity and elitism away.

The DC travel thread on their side of the forums now has posts requesting the removal of DC travel from the game, because of the dislike that all the raiders are traveling and stacking onto one of their DC's and causing massive login queues, while their newest DC is completely emptied out and a ghost town

I still strongly think that EU/Materia/NA should be linked, but can it be done as a three way join? There are voices on the Japanese side that are strongly against their login queues being made longer.

I don't think JP would need to fear cross region travel because of the language differences. Given a choice, few players are going to want to play in a region where most players aren't speaking their language. The traffic would be much heavier between NA/EU/OCE. If anything, it might ease some of their problem with JP raiders coming to NA to be part of the NA raiding scene since they're more like to at least understand English even if they're not directly able to converse in it.

I giggle at their complaints about log in queues considering their largest population world is still smaller than the smallest NA world - and that largest population world is much bigger than the majority of JP worlds.

Indeed. Before we open more of the (desperately few) remaining barriers between player sub-groups in game, we really have to work on this co-existing thing. A lot.

The only thing is I'm not even sure how to go about that, or if, in fact, the terrible truth is that despite friendly discussions here on the OF, the XIV community is in fact past practical redemption and we just have to accept that top raiders do control the direction now and their big Discords are the permanent community, and since their moderators consider any open opposition to that culture to be trolling, the choice is to like them or play another game altogether (or just play XIV as a solo game, but it's probably only a matter of time if that trend is allowed to continue, especially given the kind of salt you see on reddit, till just not being good enough for "the community" is grounds for reporting on the grounds that queuing with inadequate skill constitutes "hindering" under the TOS)?

Can a community that isn't Discord based even hope to gain traction at this point, because it seems that the way that Discord manages their platform is absolutely inimical to the formation of communities that are both milder-mannered and public, so long as the scorched earth ban policy exists and Discord goes out of their way to ignore attempts to appeal with robotic "you're banned, we looked into it, we're right, goodbye" replies. And creating a new account now pretty much literally means hitting up the store to open a new cellular line every time, so it seems that it's virtually unconscionably risky to attempt to start competition to hardcore fixtures like the Balance on that platform?

Sure, there's other software for almost everything (except for large-scale voice chat, which is still difficult), but will people even consider taking the time to follow a community link that isn't just a Discord invite?
