I love doing that in games, I'll purposely try to do the worst playthrough, or play in a way the devs really thought no one would, just to see what happens.

So, that’s what my version of the MSQ could look like.Im going to ask this againBut I would make it clearer if we do or don’t notice the masked mage.
Are you skipping cutscenes.

I had a lot of fun doing a playthrough of Until Dawn where I made sure ONLY the black guy lives. Keeping Matt alive is the hardest thing cause he has so many things that can trigger his death even if you are playing someone else.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.

ma'am read pleaseOh boy, was I entertaining during those 12 hours. And man, did I complain. To hear me talk, you’d think I couldn’t wait for those 12 hours to be done.
Thing is, I kept playing past those. Over 2 weeks, I played something like 36 hours. And a few days ago, I found myself thinking back on that start and the only thing I remembered clearly was being overwhelmed.
And I wondered. Is that why I disliked the start so much? Was there so much of the mechanic of the game I needed to understand that I didn’t notice the good parts? Shouldn’t I give the start of the game a new look?
So, here I am. About to embark on a new play-through to the dismay of the friend who gifted me the game. And I decided to document my thoughts on what I experience.
Just watched the rings of power finale, I have to admit, I enjoyed the season! I'm a pretty casual lotr fan though, so no lore purism here.

Never seen anything related to LOTR, but I did finally watch Arcane (ppl on my college esports team were urging me to).
Boy did I both enjoy it and hate myself.
I'm a bit of a Tolkien purist, but still very much on the more casual side. For example, apart from a few scenes in the last movie, the PJ trilogy is a fantastic testament to Tolkien and brought a lot of people over to what's otherwise a very dry book series. Rings of Power is honestly not that bad.
- Galadriel being a Mary Sue is typical Tolkien. It's a foregone conclusion that she'll grow to be one of the strongest and most respected elves in Middle Earth and survive all the things. Showing her journey through what happened is obviously going to show a strong and uber-broken Ñoldor blitz through orcs. She doesn't go through the plot without consequence, she got soft-exiled the first time and got thrown in jail by Míriel. Otherwise, this is a strong and uber-broken Ñoldor, do people really think telling her "No" would actually work?
- Galadriel not being ladylike is fine. Even at her most graceful, passive period, she's still going to be ready for battle and defy perceived authority; that's Tolkien's prose that people expect to translate into a screen, and as it's been shown multiple times, it not always happens. They have to show her in a warrior mindset. Galadriel's always been portrayed as someone polite, but someone you shouldn't cross. I'm not saying Galadriel's necessarily the best I've ever seen, but she does do a good job at showing what a younger, less prudent
- Arondir is fine. 100% fine. People go nuts over there being african american actors playing elves because "omg my Tolkien Norse influences" but even then xD Tolkien's a tree-hugging 30's hippie. Put him in a modern setting and his sensibilities would have him add that with no problem. And then you have the fact that black people likely did traverse all the way up to Scandinavia, especially when travel routes were established by viking explorers. They'd be rare, but they'd be there!
- The timeline being off... okay, some stuff are indeed rather wrong. Some anachronisms I can get, others are really major. Durin for me is something they shouldn't have done; every Durin that's born is considered the reincarnation of Durin I, so having two Durins alive at the same time is really "not"...
- And keeping in mind how they're basically making a series out of the scraps...? This is really well-done for what's worth. They didn't have the liences for the Silmarillion or anything in the Third Age. So them showing an Istari show up so soon? Harfoots being depicted the way they are? Durin's Bane being shown already, even if in a flashback that adds random lore to Mythril? For me that's fine, creative liberties, I'm not gonna be anal about it like Christopher Tolkien would be.
- The Celebrimbor forge of the 3 Elven rings was... pretty poor? It's a major event that needed a bit of gravitas, not glossed over in half an hour xD That's what the series needs to lead up to, imo, it needed a little more.
- Sophia Nomvete is a treasure and Disa is the best addition to anything Tolkien, can we please keep her, Tolkien Estate?
- Twink Elrond's fun. Durin IV is joy. Gil-Galad needs his authority clipped a little, he wouldn't have the power he has in the story.
- Orcs saying "Adar" makes me cringe a little, as it frankly should make them cringe with every mention. Also, I'm sorry Tar-Palantír but your daughter looks nothing like a Míriel. I certainly wouldn't be singing A Elbereth Gilthoniel to her.
- Human Sauron. Hmm. Just... mm. I want to see if they're going to add Annatar, but I'm wondering if they will at all, because "trademark". But if that is the case, then why are we doing a series on the rings of power at all lol xD
I can respect those points, and to a degree agree with them. The whole half an hour thing after meeting that specific person for what seems like an afternoon was very rushed feeling lol.
C: "Oh no, we can't do the thing"
H (30 seconds after talking for the first time ever): "Why not try 'x'"?
C: "great idea, let's do that"
I'm surprised H didn't look at the camera and wink with how on the nose it was at that point.
I don't mind though, I'm really just enjoying having a show that's NOT GoT. I'm tired of extreme violence and shock value just for the sake of it. This 'felt' like a Lord of the Rings movie, and that was exactly what I was hoping for.

..how can you NOT notice him? His presence has a specific purpose to the entire questline. But I would make it clearer if we do or don’t notice the masked mage.
To what purpose? To achieve what end? They are not "author inserts" either. But again, I would time the arrival of Yda and Papalymo depending on how well we fare.
I am seriously wondering what you are reading..or if you are actually paying any attention to quest text.
