I've read through this thread out of sheer curiosity, and don't know too much about what is and isn't against TOS. That said, RoadGGG, I suggest reporting the offenders if you haven't tried already. This coming from a person that goes to these venues to hang out from time to time. If it's reportable, and enough people get reported for spamming, then they'll likely learn their lesson and stop doing it.

You could emulate doing things nobody could do anymore. People were taking their IRL friends to these virtual clubs because they couldn't do so in reality anymore. People were cracking open beers while chatting, dancing and partying in the clubs. The DJ thing started because of Covid. People wanted to interact with a DJ like in the clubs they went to IRL, so they would open twitch and make requests. Now as Lockdowns abated, most of these clubs started losing popularity because the social aspect was the primary reason they went and they could get that talking to people out in the real world and going to actual nightclubs and bars again.

And now they remain dominate in the venue scene for a myriad of reasons. Trend chasing, ERP services, RMT services, Glamor contests etc.

I miss the Libraries and Cafes because I could actually go to them. Everyone bans Lalas from Nightclubs because they're all ERP hubs.
Oh wow, this was actually really interesting. I've seen a few cafes, and even spas on the PF/in shouts before but not a lot compared to the night clubs.

I really like this implication that not only have players optimized the fun out of raiding, but they kind of did that to the RP scene too.

To be fair, it's not really hard when the game doesn't offer much to RP with apart from chats and emotes. Lore in the game is often cast aside, with moments in the MSQ or just sheer design contradicting the lore overall. So there either isn't much to interact with, with whatever's left being too boring and vague for the average person to try something with it. Or they just see the amount of stuff you can, feel overwhelmed and don't bother trying something deeper. ERP is just easier, no need for lore, just go in, hook up, done.

We definitely need something more than just this. Decorating a house is great and all, but roleplaying should have some more tools to it. Bard had a neat idea with Performance, why not expand on that in some other gimmicky jobs? Looking cutely at that Astrologian and its deck, as well as the orrery that they can, y'know, read the horoscope like a suburbian mom? Having a more organized chat for roleplaying doesn't hurt either. And having the lore be more consolidated than just "read it up in a physical copy or scrounge every bit of text for lore". As well as making said lore interactive, and not just cosmetic. AND not make Lore "something you can dismiss" like the absolute bull that is current Hrothgar lore. "Sharlayan misconceptions" my. front. bottom.

I run a couple venues and visit others often and it's generally considered good manners to talk to other people in /tell or /party to avoid blowing up peoples' /say logs and making communication impossible. Imagine thirty or more people in the same place using /say to talk to each other. You wouldn't be able to read what the person you're talking too saying before it's off your screen. I once had a party doing some legitimately good RP in /say so I let them slide, but other visitors complained of having their chat logs blown up so I had to ask them to use party chat instead. It makes for a seemingly quiet venue, but be assured there's tons of chat going on in private channels.

I agree, walking into a club full of people silently dancing can be off-putting and seem counter-intuitive. Next time you go and want to talk to someone, try giving them a tell.

or...you could just make a separate chat for rp/chat...

Somehow I think a majority of the people in these "venues" are keeping their communication to tells because they don't want the ban that usually comes along with doing that out in the open.

Hey, in the episode of "RMT players making this game better for everyone in every aspect" there is a lot of Drama in game this week, because NIGHTCLUBS owners started, either than to usually ask their dancers and staff to ask for gils, (or favors in the form of mogstation code gifts) started to ask them to ASK for real money, euros / usd privately getting owners and "workers" to clash in Drama's over these new pushes.

Meanwhile the pf's is turning each week into a complete zoo of monkey brain rmt trolls making it, today, even impossible to make simple reclears of p5S to p6 and further, well during reset day and after. All These rmt wow refugees really making this game exponentially more wonderfull since august 2020's explosion. Your best chance to get a clear somehow, is to either use discord or reddit / other forum platform to organize pfinder semi statics, or else, roll the dices on the pfinder to find 1 parties out of 99 that aren't infiltrated by rmt trolls.

I like roleplaying online, I like writing stories and acting out a character with other people. I've worked at a venue in FF14 and we tried hard to keep that engagement going with the people who visited. When I went to these nightclubs, there barely was any interaction other than the bare minimum, and people would just stand there, letting their characters loop /beesknees. That for me isn't roleplaying. There's just barebones interactivity. We're in a game with so much good lore, with so much stuff you can pick up on and interpret, expand upon, and you just stand there? I really do fail to see the appeal of it, at least so far as how people keep being labelling it as "roleplaying". Sure, what you do is your business, so if you're into that, props for you. But these spaces are so dominant and widespread that I wonder why people aren't doing more with them.
Yo I'm part of a discord that does RP in game more akin to stage plays/sort of "D&D"-esque kind of things, both with big plots and spur of the moment random scenes. It's... DRASTICALLY different from what I've seen in venue RP. Feel free to reach out if you're interested in giving it a gander.
