Or maybe, most people are unhappy.

The forums are a privilege, because you have to be subbed to the game to use it. This isn't a "Most people on the forums don't play the game" situation. EVERY person on the forums HAS to play to a degree, or you cannot post.
(Even though I don't play it that much......due to not being satisfied with any of the jobs)

To your point, how many actually got to EW? Not me.......So maybe I have no business posting about EW LOL, but as for the jobs as a guy who owns EW? I think they all suck, except maybe 1 or 2 are playable to me....Just me personally.

I come around for events; rarely updates, and usually end up disappointed because I eventually have to complete the events....and play the actual jobs.......

The large majority of people who play the game don't go near the forums.

I know it's probably not the best place to post this, but; I actually find Reaper to be a ton of fun right now. Yeah, the damage is a little low, but I really do like it.

Also, Red Mage is always a fun one, in my eyes.

I main WAR and I'm actually pretty satisfied with the job ngl. I know some people hate the simplicity but it's very comfy and the simplicity helps my ADHD brain to not be distracted and focus on mechanics better.
It also helps that I like the class fantasy of a Berserker.

Requiring a subscription to use the forums doesn't mean the vast majority -will- use it.

Based on the last unofficial census, the game is closing in on around 1mil active characters being played. If even 10% of them used the forums, threads would be getting created, posted in, etc constantly, rather than the relatively slow pace one can observe daily. You would also see a far more variety of faces commenting, rather than the exact same set of 4-10 negative nancies & 5-10 usual people arguing against them I see every day in the general discussion.

The simple reality is that by far and large, people who are content with the game will not mention it unless directly asked. After all, simply stating you love something about the game isn't conductive to discussion, whereas people criticisms and annoyances easily fuel discussion. People who are satisfied will be less inclined to go out to the forums and voice their opinion than someone who wants to see change within the game. Without an 'official' survey, nothing can be accurately said about whose a majority and whose a minority. Only Square knows, because they have literal petabytes of statistics that show the actual truths here.

After all, take a job like DRK, who was extremely controversial in SHB due to its extreme dumbing down of its kit and if you looked at the forums in isolation during that time, you would believe was a job no one liked and ultra despised. Yet there was a redditor created job satisfaction poll during 5.25, or a little under halfway through the expansion, where DRK scored a 3.92/5, or a little under 80% of DRK players / the majority of the players were satisfied with the job. https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...urvey_results/

Now of course, this is a limited sample size, but it does give a good insight into the reality that anyone who thinks their opinion speaks for the majority or that the forums is any indication of player satisfaction/dissatisfaction needs to get a reality check.

The only truth one can gleam from the forums is that people have opinions, both positive and negative. But who is majority and who is minority is only for Square Enix to know, and they'll continue using those statistics to steer the game design in favor of the majority who pays their bills.

I'm happy with Gunbreaker for tanking.

Sage is also alright for when I want to do some healing.

I don't DPS a lot, but I've generally used Red Mage as my default DPS since it came out, and I'd say the Endwalker version is my favourite.

I'm mostly happy with the jobs I play. I think most complaints boil down to players too focused on DPS numbers... which is important in many facets of the game. However, there is so much focus on it, that the jobs are becoming homogenized (cookie cutter, etc). It almost reminds me of that dungeon - the first level 90 dungeon, The Dead Ends. You know the one - there's those people that finally got their utopia (the last 3rd of the dungeon) and all they wanted was the sweet release of death.

That's where this game is going with balance. Eventually people will get their perfect balance... and then everyone will quit.

One of the few jobs I gave up in EW was RDM. The randomness of the procs was too much. It was NOT too much when RDM came out. That was still a timeframe when BRD had a lot of random procs that drove their entire priority system. And I think MCH still had their 1-2-3 bullet gauge procs. There were a few jobs like that - but now RDM is more or less the odd man out. It is a fun job to play, but I find myself having to stare at those hotbars more than I'd like.
