Single target is the absolute worst you can do in situations where your tank and healers are bad and struggling.

One of the things I really enjoy about playing level synced duo, is that there are places that the correct kill order matters again. Get that order wrong or brainlessly spam AOE and there are places you can wipe.

It's sad to me that that kill order and crowd control has been trivialised to the point of not existing in light and full parties as the years have passed. (in the first weeks of the game we used to - as an example - sleep the drake add in Brayflox second boss to prevent a wipe - I still do XD because I can)

That line of thinking can be applied to anything in the game. Hard disagree. If I'm tired or drunk and I get home from work and want to do roulettes and be shit at it that's my right, too. Make a PF, set your rules, problem solved.

She doesn't have to because most players don't disrespect other people enough to get drunk and demand to get carried through content. She can votekick or just leave and queue up again.

As someone who opens up FFXIV when I get home from work... I might not be great at hitting cooldowns and oGCDs in an optimal fashion, but basic 1-2-3 combos, single-target or AoE, in a Duty Finder dungeon are a reasonable expectation, I feel like.

Mao would be SUPER embarrassed if Mao did not use AoEs. BLMs are AoE specialists. Mao opens up with Thunder IV, then goes to bunch of High Fire IIs, then Blizzard III, then Freeze, then repeats. Add in Foul when comes up. Trash goes away real fast! Usually, when tank still pullings, Mao uses Triplecast to start burninatings on the run.

It's most definitely encouraged by many, but there are also many who are too afraid of getting banned to speak up, yes.

It's not even about being an elitist or anything like that either. These people who defend and enable these other people to drag down a party of players think they are being "nice". That's what gets me - common courtesy would make you think everyone contributes, or at least TRIES to contribute because it is the polite and courteous thing to do when you are playing with other people. The ones who refuse to do their share are not respecting anyone else's time or effort, and can be pretty nasty about it too, but people are defending them? It's absolutely mind boggling.
