the problem is you are completely misunderstanding what 'basic competency' is, clearing the fight IS basic competency according to the devs

While I'm loathe to agree with FireMage, this is a poor take. By that logic, a Glare Mage who forces their co-healer to essentially solo heal the entire first is competent at their job. I can we can all agree that wouldn't be accurate, regardless of the devs' belief.

People have a right to certain expectations in high end content. Keep in mind PF is entirely premade parties. Therefore, you're agreeing to the whims of whomever's party you join. Now you can argue whether their expectations are lofty and unreasonable but I wager most people's general expectations is that you understand how to play your job. Showing up and dying three times while still getting a clear isn't doing that.

I tend to engage with people like that for anyone else reading to maybe show people like FireMage do not represent the parsing community. Plenty of us just parse for the fun of it and to give ourselves something to engage Savage with long after we've cleared the fights several times. Case in point, I chased a top ten ranking in P1S last tier for no other reason than I wanted to top myself because, "I've never gotten that high before." I didn't manage it but it was fun trying. And it led me to killing good ole Eric 104 times.
