People who can't do AOE rotations in 70+ Content

I have this complain as well, especially when their job are a Black Mage!

They just don't bother to use Flare or any AoE skill but instead spamming Fire 1!

Seeing this physically hurt me. You play black mage to do big flashy hurty spells, WHY AREN'T YOU USING THEM IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THEM?!

I used to expect people to have at least the basics of their job down by ShB content. After my third marauder in Pandaemonium, I no longer expect anything.

Every time I see this I think I need to revive my thread asking the devs to finally job lock 31+ content for this reason, good lord.

As for others asking "what if I just want to do nothing when I get home from work," I can be tired and still go "oh there are 3 enemies, let me hit my aoe skill" it's not any more intensive than spamming my 1-2-3 combo, you're likely spamming like one button. It's less intensive than that. Anyone who job skips should really be brought through a quick job tutorial a la the 60/70 unlocked jobs so they at least know some of their kit.

the only solution to OP's problem is having a more curated DF to queue for that automatically bans people that don't AOE from using it

There are various borderline cases where doing AOEs seem to not help. In such cases I hesitate to say "if you don't use AOEs you should go blast your head off."

1) When I see tanks being overwhelmed with pulls they cannot really handle / heals not being able to heal quick enough -- in such cases focusing attacks on a few to reduce the number of attacking heads seems to help better.
2) When I am playing as RDM, after my mana gauge is over 50 I do my 3-melee combos so I can unleash powerful AOEs. It would be a problem if people say those melee combos should use the AOE version which has a higher mana cost.
3) There are cases where tanks fail to capture all of the critters as they pull; in such cases I can die fairly quickly when I use AOEs. After run-ins with a number of crappy tanks I can imagine some people will hesitate.

Overall I would agree that AOEs should be used in optimal conditions.
However, as we can end up with various types of people in the roulettes I tend to not assume and at least for the first 1 or 2 enemy groups try to understand how the other party members are functioning.
If I can mindlessly blast AOEs that would be easiest, but there are cases where it may not be the optimal choice.

But that's the problem, why should they? The game doesn't punish zero skill floor play, you can do your whole MSQ while doing your basic 123 and nothing else in every dungeon and trial. Sure it will take 10x the time but assuming you don't care about that?

Sadly to say they do not. Ill give you an example back in sb. had a blm during a dungeon. I notice that he was not using thunder 2 at the time. I told hey you know thunder two is an aoe right? he said no thunder four is. I told him so is thunder two. The next pull guess what they used?

it's been how many years and df still can't understand that 300 potency on 1 mob is smaller than 150 potency on 10-15 mobs. basic math, 300 potency every 2 secs or 1500 - 2250 potency every 2 secs?

It's not even just basic math, it's also a question of why do we think the devs have made AoE abilities in the first place. If AoE wouldnt be stronger against multiple targets, why would it exist in the first place?
