This is a tricky one. Is your friend's old character still in the FC? If so, you can make the old character the FC Master once the new character is added then leave. You should make certain the new character is assigned a rank with all necessary privileges while they wait out the 35 days for auto-dethrone to make that character the FC Master.

If the old character is not in the FC, then you'll have to wait out the 30 days before you can transfer FC Master and move on.

Also when you say get the account switched over, are you talking about switching between a Steam license and a standard PC license, or are they switching between PC and PlayStation? A new account should only be necessary if it's a switch between Steam and standard PC.

As Jojo said it is a tricky one, and it's something you should consider to be quite careful with.

If you leave the FC and there is nobody else valid to take over - someone who has been in place for 30 days - the FC is disbanded. If there is a house it is demolished and will go up for sale. If there was a workshop, it's destroyed too. If there is no house, all the ranks are gone.

As Jojo correctly said, if their old character is still in, then the leadership will go to them, then swap over in 35 days to the friend's new character.

But I would be super careful nevertheless. Safest in my mind, and what I would personally do, stay the 30 days they need to wait, and as soon as you can promote them to leader, then leave.
