What bizarro parallel reality FFXIV are you playing? In the years I've been playing, not once have I ever seen anyone kick a healer for not doing DPS
Even as a former healer main I don't bother to kick people for that in casual content because it literally does not matter

There are entire threads complaining about people not playing the way others see fit. Just in the front page there is a thread of people complaining that other players aren't using LB correctly when they use the DF. It doesn't matter when or who uses the LB in DF content, it will reduce the amount of run time by a few seconds at most.

Complaining, yes. That doesn't mean they're outright kicking them. As someone who PFs Savage. I could fill a book with the number of players spamming pointless Medica IIs and hardly doing half the expected DPS of a healer. And this is in Savage. Go do Algaia right now with a certain abacus up and you'll see how little DPS a lot of healers do in baby content. As long as you aren't AFKing, people largely don't care unless it's Savage. Am I annoyed whenever I get healers in Expert who are doing 2k? Sure. Am I going to kick them? Nope.

I don't think anyone said that the healers were not using "any actions". A healer can literally spam medica or benefic and then stand emoting in normal content and most likely, no one is going to say anything provided that no one dies. If the healer is not using any DPS actions then the rest of the group will likely be fuming, but they'll likely grit their teeth and pick up the slack, but I expect it would be really exceptional that the healer would be kicked.

While the lv86 abilities do technically have uses, we really didn't need them. They just exist for the sake of adding something. Lv86 would have been a perfect slot for more dps without overwhelming players.
It felt even more insulting that they could’ve added those actions way lower in levels… say, ARR lv range to give healers at least something else to press & actually served something. I.e. teaching baby WHM/AST that Aquaveil/Exaltation can be used to help with mits, teaching baby SCH/SGEs that they can make thicker shields with their Protraction/Krasis. And yet for whatever reason it’s shoved up there at lv86—people have to go through 85 worth of levels just for that single button. Buttons should feel more impactful when learned at higher level. Not these 4—they’re just fluffs.

Insults are a form of harassment and against the ToS. That is a well-known fact. So if someone is really throwing "a myriad of insults" at someone, that person has a problem. How often do you see it happen? No, seriously. I'd like to know. How many times in the past week have you seen someone calling another player an asshole, dumb, idiotic, lazy or other insults? "I see it all the time" and "we all know it's true" isn't an answer.
And how many times has a player been kicked and for what reason exactly?

Because in casual content nobody cares what you do as long as you're not afk or grief. And if someone really doesn't use any actions and basically just run after the group doing nothing, then they deserve the boot. Not the insults, but the boot.

I've done more than one "0 dps" meme run to see if anyone reacts at all and nobody did. Not in a single run. In most of them I even walked out with several comms, that's much people are bothered by a healer not dpsing. And kicking? The only times I've seen people kick someone is if they
    1) afk without saying anything/ dc'd for several minutes
    2) made a major mistake and didn't correct them after people asking several times nicely, like not turning on tank stance but constantly pulling all the way to the 1st and sometimes even 2nd boss
    3) if they made a huge drama and insulted people
Yes, you read right. The person insulting others got kicked. Not the person they insulted even if they played poorly.

People can be annoyed all the time and that's fine, venting in a forum thread doesn't equal screaming a myriad of insults and then kicking someone.
So this argument of "They could do with more but we all know it wouldn't work out because we all know poor healers would get insulted and kicked" doesn't hold any weight at all.

I was thinking sage could have a “melee combo” ala red mage with three buttons where the first charges in (summoner Ifrit special) the second cleaves, and the third explodes and jumps back (red mages). Remove the nonsense in melee aoe they have now and put toxicron on the ogcd so you can weave it between your attacks. Make more of it generate naturally.

The attacks could be done with beam sabers formed by our floaty things.

Why is it that healers are the only role that get an extremely lackluster DPS rotation yet are still required to contribute significant amounts of DPS to clear difficult content? Like, in what world is a 1-button spammed DPS rotation okay for ANY JOB in PVE content? Well, after playing this game for 8 years now and weathering all the various changes to the jobs I honestly think we've hit the point where healers seriously need to be redesigned.

I believe that by redesigning healers to have simple DPS rotations not unlike tanks that more people will be attracted to the role which will boost the overall health of the game. This can be done in two steps: consolidate useless healing actions and add simple rotations that easily tie back into healing. Consolidating actions is very simple to begin with: there's no need for a cure 1/2 or a medica 1/2 when these abilities should simply evolve into higher forms. All the healers have redundancy in their healing kits that could be streamlined to make room for a few DPS buttons which could even add some of these abilities back in some way, shape, or form.

After this, each healer could have a simple DPS rotation that ties back into their healing in some way like increasing their healing potency or granting them a free heal, etc, in the reverse way to how using lilies grants a bloody lily at the end to restore lost DPS. And in the spirit of EW, they could even make it so that using your healing abilities don't break these combos so there's no reason NOT to heal when you really need it but also a reason to optimize your DPS to increase healing. But most importantly, it doesn't have to be overly complicated; just more than the one attack and one dot we've had for a while now. My mind is exploding with countless ideas about how this could be done inside of the current game's framework but I'd love the opinions of others on the matter.
The game needs to go back to its roots. Abandon WoW, embrace FFXI!

Even if it did happen, it would only be in Savage or Ultimate. Two things:

    1) Their party, their rules. No one is owed a slot. They can kick you for literally any reason.

    2) At that level, if you're not providing a decent amount of DPS as a healer you are actively hindering the group.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
