    What MMO doesn't have FOMO?

The ironic part is that the FOMO here is far less than it is in most other MMOs. There's no reason to fear that an expansion's worth of content is suddenly going to be unavailable. You'll still be able to get that mount from EX even if it means getting the tokens while other MMOs will leave you at the mercy of 0.5% drop chance each time you kill the boss.

The weird thing about FOMO is everyone misses out on more in life than they get a chance to experience. Why stress over missing out on something ultimately trivial in a game but not on all those other opportunities you're bypassing in life (sometimes because you've chosen to play a game instead)? Accept you're not going to be able to get everything you want and FOMO disappears.

On the other hand, for a game that has worked hard to make certain players have access to content it's very strange that they ignore this one content area considering other games choose a system that makes sure all players have access to it.

So you don't mind companies engaging in greedy practices but as long as it's not the "worst" then it's okay? That's Stockholm syndrome m8... :^(

What greedy practices are you referring to in relationship to FOMO?

Or are you shifting goal posts and changing the direction of your question away from the statement I was replying to?

Not certain why you believe that Stockholm Syndrome is involved here. Square Enix is not holding anyone captive. They are not abusing us. You have the option to stop paying for their products and walking away. They won't stop you.

If you're sticking around and continuing to pay for the game even though you hate it, that's on you. It's not likely to suddenly change development direction when the majority of players appear to be at least satisfied if not firmly pleased overall with the game.

How would the game determine who the winner is when there are 2 completely different pools of entrants?

Easy, if you choose the lottery for "any" house your name goes into every open house lotto. If you choose to join for a specific house your name goes in the lotto for the exact house you're targeting along with all the people that are targeting that house and all the people that chose "any" house. I'm really not the biggest fan of this because I would like a house in a couple of specific wards over just any house and this would make the people I'm against even higher, but at least it would be an option so you're not going 1:150 every 7 days for a chance at a house. Of course on Lamia this could be 1:150 every 7 days even going for "any" house. At the time of my OP there were 0 houses in Shirogane or Empyreum.

The system for what it is is fair, even if the odds of you winning are slim. If you want multiple chances, grow some alts like others do.
It's not a perfect idea, but if you choose to join the lotto for "any" house, then the assumption would be you don't care where it is, you just want a house. So, the system could very easily randomly choose a single house from all of the lotteries you win to be your designated house. Then all the extra lotteries would be rerolled with your name excluded. We live in 2022, this type of algorithm would not be difficult to implement.

Shouldn't but do you remember what happened during the first round of the lottery? If they can't even implement one lottery pool properly without it breaking for a month and screwing people over, why would they be able to make a more complex one work properly on the first go?

I'm all for not breaking things further and just having ward housing for those who want it and are willing to be patient with lottery and instanced for those who arent patient and "just want a house".

Seriously? FOMO as the tem tends to get used is bs anyways. it's basicvally a self-worth or self-esteem problem. an obsession with comparison to others..

an ffxiv example would be Jack has a mount. Jill doesn't. Jill feels inferior to Jack because he has a mount she doesnt have..

However the reality is it makes no difference. EVERY mount basically has the exact same atributes moves at the same speeds can do the saem things so what is Jill actually missing out on?

FOMO is also bs because its a term that can can and often is applied to absolutely everything.. Maybe Jack and Jill are having a random conversation. John sees them talking across the room but isn't part of that conversation. BAM FOMO!! What are they talking about? What is John missing out on? ARGGHHh!!
