Many player complained about healer's not having to heal so much and it becoming a boring role.
Now we have a raid tier that actually needs more healing and we get a healer shortage.
So yea, what should be done.
It's a nearly impossible situations.
Also, this seems to be mostly a PF problem.
Because when you look at the static finder discord, then you don't see it being a big problem.
I checked the last 24 hours of LFM on the EU static discord and it looks not to bad.
Tank's: 17
Healer: 33
DPS: 54
Yes, healer are definitely more in need then they used to be but it still is as hard to find a DPS then it is for healer.
More challenge that comes from my role/ class instead of the stupidity of my party members.
1) distinct heal styles that make me completely rethink my approach to a boss when I'm switching from e.g. SCH to WHM. It currently would not matter one bit which healer I play, I can just replace one generic roughly 600-700 potency aoe heal with another and call it a day
2) more to heal - we're at 0 GCD heals on p5s-p7s unless things really go south (the occasional death is barely noticeable) and 0 AF for p5s and p6s
I'm a healer, I swear
10 deaths, almost getting outhealed by a GNB and still 0 GCDs from both healers and only 2 AF heals without Recit, one of which was a missclick.
Give me something better to do than wait for someone to screw up
3) a better dps rotation so my reward for playing well isn't more 1111
4) a more interesting heal toolkit that has synergies because replacing a Broil with a fire and forget Succor isn't pinnacle of engagement either if we get more to heal
Instead of mitigation checks, I'd like to see more constant damage that is designed to test healers more than party mitigation and more heal checks that last longer than 2-3 GCDs early into the fight. Purgation was a good one but still very heavy on individual, hard hits.
I currently play healer and it was a deliberate choice and doing all the number crunching for a static is fun. But I rarely do it in PF nowadays because every little scratch gets either healbotted into oblivion by someone pushing random healy buttons that make HP bars go brrrr or we just get one shot because nobody mitigated.
Current PF healer quality is a huge turn off for me.

To be honest, with how scarce raid wide damage tends to be, I think its hard to believe that you will very often die to it, outside of a few healchecks where it can during progress, happens to dps all the time that they fail dps checks despite this being their only job. More often than not people die to a personal failure of performing mechanics. If healers get more complex dps rotations then all dps roles need to have a few self heals on a moderate cooldown because I refuse to die to raid wides because the healers are to fixated on just doing damage. That’s the only way I will welcome more complex rotations from healers. Sorry if that upsets people but that’s how I feel.
Everything else in this post I sorta agree with.
M+ is probably the most widely acclaimed and game changing feature that WoW ever introduced ever since the introduction of multiple raid difficulties.

Agreed, the no 1 and 2 reason why people die is not that a healer focusses too much on dps.To be honest, with how scarce raid wide damage tends to be, I think its hard to believe that you will very often die to it, outside of a few healchecks where it can during progress, happens to dps all the time that they fail dps checks despite this being their only job. It's either personal failure and standing in the bad, outranging mit or heals or party mit in general being crap. And I dislike this approach of "If someone gets more responsibility, I want more tools to take away that responsibility because I don't trush them" - not like healers or tanks have a mega nuke on demand if dps are bad or healers and dps can throw mega mit and aggro bonus if a tank failed to voke/ shirk or mitigate a buster and the boss suddenly turns to the dps that's 2nd in aggro.
We need to be able to fail. All of us. And yes, it will affect others. Dps being bad will prevent a kill. Healers being bad will prevent a kill. Tanks being bad will prevent a kill. It's highend content and for me, that's a good thing because it drives the point home that you better push that button or else.
Every time someone gets more tools to take away responsibility from someone else, that someone else is now free to play poorly. I don't think that should be encouraged and I'm against coddling healers even more by giving everyone tools to make the entire role even more superfluous than it already is.
On a side note: I WISH healers would be more focussed on damage, I generally see the opposite and they happily do half the damage they could without breaking a sweat. If people die from lack of healing, it's usually because those healers are simply bad, heal completely reactively even after countless pulls and don't notice when heavy damage hits and when the party is safe at low HP.

Getting to be a healer instead of a green dps. Not that I did savage in the first place, I just generally dislike the healer playstyle as a whole in this game.
Yes, I main sch.
still hot and thriving in JP it seems
Guess no slot for me to heal today
