    The process of getting it caught up is a terrible gauge for future updates. You're not even looking at the actual work that was done, which was mostly adding the skills and solo encounters and then looking over encounters and flagging certain mobs immune to certain effects. It's considerably light compared to what you want them to do.

    and what's the problem with letting people do what they want? If content will only reward BLU, what's the fear of letting people do what they want? I did the raids with BLU, only 1 left for me to get the morbol. It's chaotic, fun, but pointless. I don't want to redo things from past expansions, to get empty rewards. Since they will release this fight to me in the next expansion, why not now? Screw if it's easier or harder, if you limit the rewards to just that class, no one will get hurt
    You're not grasping the whole concept of this limited class. It's very much out of balance with everything else. I already explained this.

    Is it really niche? Or do people only play with it when content comes out, because the rest of the time there's nothing to do with it?
    It is really niche, again because it's Limited. People find uses for it after the latest update is done (FATEs, Wondrous Tails etc), but the main focus of the game is those 20 other jobs and how they interact with each other and the world.

    Not everyone enjoys playing mage, or chasing after a huge list of skills out there. If you limit rewards to BLU only, no other classes will be affected.
    Again, easier said than done.

    There's definitely a difference there though.
    It's like saying everyone hating Street Fighter 3 means Capcom shouldn't make any new Street Fighter characters - the game wasn't hated because of the new characters, it was hated because of the lack of old characters.
    Now that pretty much every classic FF job is represented in XIV there's nothing stopping them from coming up with original ideas.

    If that's what people are envisaging for Beastmaster – summoning selected pets and having them use their signature attacks to fight for you – how is that any different in practice to BLU? It seems like the two jobs would just be standing on each other's toes the whole time, unless you limited BLU to only learning skills from human-type enemies, but even then it already has plenty of beast skills. You can already spit Bad Breath on your enemies, minus the practical complication of having the morbol appear on the battlefield.

    I do think it's possible to work around the usual issues people think of when it comes to BST; make Charm something that you apply to a mob and then which has a chance to proc when that mob dies. You'd start out in a dungeon without a pet and have to rely on your own attacks, then you pick something to charm and hope for the best. Really basic mobs like the first pull could be 100% chances. Enemies with stronger abilities would have a lower success chance. You'd have to release your current pet to attempt another, which becomes a gamble against being stuck with only your 123 again if the new charm fails. Somewhere around 40-60 you'd get the jug pet ability, which gets you a pet without the need to charm but it can't do anything special at all. Pet commands would simply be 1-single target mode, 2-AoE mode, 3-CD to have pet use a special if it has one. And finally, make the charmed state last around five minutes so that multiple charms need to be used per dungeon.

    Honestly, the best build of beastmaster that could fit into the game is still pretty random.

    DPS, but instead of being 5 yalm standard, make everything the handler does 10 yalms standard. And then don't hit them with ranged tax.

    They get some basic combos, and a few party buffs, and a few targeted buffs that default to the summoned animal.

    They can summon one at a time (though some like a pack of wolves look like 5, it's just ONE), and they can pick from a roster like the blu spellbook. In order to "Tame" it must be solo (or all limited) combat with the last blow being from a tamer (thus prevening blu cheese via explosion and sting).

    When they summon the monster will act randomly from a list of actions, nothing as fancy as the script of an EX boss, but basic monster behaviors. As long as it has HP left it'll do things, at a cost of HP per action. High level tamer abilities will let you summon with double, or more HP so it lasts longer, but also requires you to use a longer cast time and spend more mana in the summon.

    In other words, BLU, but physical, and you the minion casts the spells from the list at random.

    Gau, but as a minion.

    As someone who leveled smn to enjoy a pet class pre SB this thread makes me feel weird, lol. I honestly don't know if the devs can even do pet classes anymore so the only option left would be an 1h axe wielding blu.

    There's two MAJOR problems with adding Beastmaster.

    1) Limited Jobs were a mistake and adding more just detracts from adding content you could play and enjoy as the normal classes. They'd remove Blue Mage or just rework it into a normal job if the community wouldn't hound them over it (and they should probably

    2) The pet AI in this game is still trash and having a job that focuses on commanding beasts would play incredibly bad. Endwalker has already added systems like Island Sanctuary which clearly show where the technical limitations of XIV are, adding a job focused around AI pets would be so disastrously bad unless drastic improvements to the underlying technologies powering the game happened beforehand.

    FFXIV can't have everything.
    So if there's something lacking there's most likely other games that can fill that spot.
    No one's saying anyone has to stick exclusively to FFXIV.

    BST will never be in this game, so if you're holding out for that you should probably move on.

    Hell it was extremely niche in XI as well. I never once during my time playing ever saw them in end game groups and I only ever had a single instance of them being in a EXP party. People just played them to run solo and half the time I forgot they even existed.

    Hire experienced devs who have experience with pets in MMOs? Nah
    Hire experienced technicians who can modify and upgrade the engine so it can support pets for real? Nah
    Develop a class similar to SMN that uses pets but doesn't actually have one out all the time? Nah
    Just drop the idea and screw people who want to play BST!
