Yeah, nothin' like coming back to the game barely a week ago and already devolving to logging on once on Tuesday to do weeklies and then logout for the rest of the week and forget FF14 exists for the other 6 days of the week.I don't doubt that you and others who share your...approach to video games are 'laughing'.
However there's many ways in which a game can disrespect a player's time. For example, I think that as a game ages it isn't unfair to expect it to do more to actually be ground-breaking on some fronts. In its golden era, World of Warcraft would look at what competitors were doing, take what worked and refine them with an attempt at a twist.
I see very little of that here in FFXIV. As a veteran player, I'd certainly appreciate more to do in-game that has staying power and which boasts more depth than just clicking on nodes/waiting around. It certainly doesn't help seeing the content I do enjoy - such as Bozja - artificially cut short and scrapped.
I daresay at this point the game has become something entirely different to what it set out to be.
Gosh......flashbacks of my mom yeeting me from the pc so she could play that sh.....nice game.
Bozja was the unfortunate victim of covid. Call it an excuse all you want, but it impacted so much. I would've liked to see more from Bozja as well, but there's only so much that can be done. IS was even supposed to come out around 5.4, but that got put on hold.I don't doubt that you and others who share your...approach to video games are 'laughing'.

XIV has taken plenty of cues from other games and made improvements to the MMO experience. That can be hard to see if your experience is limited. All WoW ever did from the start was appeal to the lowest common denominator and make the game super easy to run, where others forced you to upgrade your PC every so often. They didn't even have a whole lot of competition back then. It was just the EQs and they're still going. They haven't done anything terribly ground-breaking either, though EQ2 finally runs on 64 bit. With MMOs, it's more about consistent delivery.
Of course this game is different from what it set out to be. It had to be taken offline and get redone.
Instead of this stupid island could of taken all the resources and gave us way more wards. No more excuses. Every other MMO that exists has gotten housing right. Yoshi can't even figure this out. For someone who supposedly very good at this can not figure out one simple thing.
I have to disagree with that. I spent a decent amount of time slowly getting to rank 10, and now I set my lazy presets once every two weeks (2 minutes), collect resources for those 2 weeks ( 30 mins - 60 mins ) and collect about 10k cowries a week. I already have the mount unlocked that I wanted, so now it's just 8 more weeks and i'll have everything there is to unlock and those 8 weeks will cost me 4 hours of in-game time. To try to argue that farmville respects peoples time more than that?

Ehh I don't know how much I buy this excuse.
Relic content has been getting put off more and more with each expansion. Back in the ARR and HW days it was an expansion-long thing and that's the way it was supposed to be for SB too but the devs weren't able to finish Anemos in time for 4.1 so it was delayed - you can even hear Eureka music in the trailer for that patch.
With Shadowbringers for whatever reason the X.2 release date became expected, even though there was no reason to believe this should be the case just because SB had to delay its own relic, but then turns out ShB couldn't even get its first step out in time for 5.2 so we'd have to wait until 5.3 for the real first step of the relic while giving us an half-assed base step to start with.
So we went from the initial 5 zones that were promised down to 4 in Eureka, which then got cut down to 2 in Bozja - which even if there was no covid it would still have been one less area than previously.
And I don't even wanna know what these supposed Manderville weapon quests are gonna look like, I doubt it'll be anything on par with Eureka or Bozja (despite me not even liking that kind of open-instance content that much).

They don't even have a dye system yet.

As long as you pay the toll, then SE doesn't care. lol
My take on IS is for something that was launched in its base form...it's passable. But I'm expecting this content to be heavily improved in the upcoming patches.
Personally Im disappointed that there isn't a grid based customization system with placing facilities and buildings. For something thats supposed to be personalized in spirit there isn't really that much to it besides showing off what sort of animals you tamed.
Unlike the people here, Im glad that they went out of their way to make content like this. But again, I'm going to be expecting major additions and improvements to it in order for it to truly work as a personal sanctuary. At the very least if they can make it where you can place all sorts of facilities and buildings anywhere on the island, then that'll be a real good first step.

What some people don't get is that critiquing a game doesn't mean you hate it, but that they actually love it, they just see the flaws and want the devs to do better.Don't waste your energy man. This forum is filled with people that live to complain. It is all they do. It does not matter what SE or anyone else does in this world for that matter. They will complain. They have lost the ability to just enjoy something without being critical about every single aspect possible. It is truly sad.
We pay monthly subs and buy overpriced mogstation items, the least we can do is ask them to do better when they release content that is lackluster.
This isn't Final Fantasy 14 best friends forum![]()
